Tashia ☕ | 8 comments I choose to read it anyway and act like I don’t know what may happen .

Sarah Lehman (sdelgado8404) | 116 comments I read it anyway

message 3: by Ela (new)

Ela I think it depends on the book. For example, I spoiled The Summer I Turned Pretty for myself, but the narrator is so good that I'm listening to it anyway.

I read for the emotions the book evokes and the voice creates those emotions. The story line is important but ancillary. My favorite book of all time is Lonesome Dove. I've read that tome three times and enjoyed the heck out of it each and every time. Same thing with the Prey books, the Davenport character. Read the entire series two and a half times.

message 5: by TimeFliesAway (new)

TimeFliesAway | 121 comments Really depends on the spoiler and the book itself. Or how long the book is and when the spoiler will happen.

If there's a romance, I usually look for spoilers anyway cause i dont like reading hetero romance, so before buying I'll have to make sure it's sth worth buying.

If it's a manga and the spoiler happens in volume 1, then I'll likely read it anyway bc mangas are short and quick to read.

message 6: by Shelby (new)

Shelby Kay | 29 comments I’ll usually read something else and wait a while but still read it unless it’s a story I definitely won’t enjoy. Even spoiled you can still enjoy the story. The best is when I wait long enough and forget the spoilers my friend told me anyways

message 7: by violet (new)

violet (ashersmonster) unless it is smth very major i will go ahead and read that book esp if i have been looking forward to it

message 8: by Diane (new)

Diane I read it anyway...we all see books differently 😊

message 9: by Dee (new)

Dee Turner | 17 comments My daughter is a fantastic storyteller--she often narrates for me entire books, TV series and movies. Her hands, her entire body, enhance the stories she tells, and she misses nothing. Her narrations don't interfere with my reading at all. In fact, they sometimes compel me to read, or watch, for myself.

message 10: by nabiwabisabi (new)

nabiwabisabi | 10 comments i'll convince myself they're lying and keep going LOL-

aww thats so cute

message 12: by Amelia❤ (new)

Amelia❤ | 9 comments Read it anyway. ;)

message 13: by kitcantspell (new)

kitcantspell ( semi hiatus ) | 20 comments honestly i forget that they told me 😭 so yeah, keep reading

message 14: by Hermione (new)

Hermione | 18 comments Diane wrote: "I read it anyway...we all see books differently 😊"

Agreed! Even if the conclusion is the same, everyone can interpret the same details differently. For me most of the times it's not the destination, it's the journey.

message 15: by luna_inthesouth (new)

luna_inthesouth | 72 comments well the knowledge i have about how my adhd brain is a blessing that no matter whether it's a written spoiler or visual, I'll DEFINITELY forget it in a matter of minutes and it happens quite A LOT while I'm scrolling through Gr or Pinterest so yeah i would defo consider reading the book anyway .

message 16: by Sam (new)

Sam K (zutara123) | 251 comments Ill read it anyway. In fact depending on what the spoiler is, it might make me want to make read it more.

message 17: by Maya (new)

Maya | 23 comments I will still read it. I don't mind spoilers in general, because if spoilers make the story worse, than the story probably wasn't that good to begin with. Spoilers actually make it more likely I'll read something, because I want to see for myself where people are coming from. (There's actually multiple books I only want to read because I watched multiple hours of video-content about those books.)
The only exception is if people spoil certain topics that I don't want to read about. If I want to read a book and somebody tells me a lot of it will be about some (surprise) pregnancy? I'm out. But that's because of the topic then, not because of spoilers.

message 18: by Rew (new)

Rew (rewsalem) | 109 comments i choose to judge it myself after reading it

message 19: by Patti (new)

Patti Pasell | 19 comments I want the spoiler. I can’t stand having to wait to find out what happened. Yes, this does mean I sometimes read the last chapter or epilogue after a few chapters in a book. Then I see what the path to that conclusion is.

message 20: by javurkova_misa (new)

javurkova_misa | 77 comments when I see Im like so mad but i'll forgot it anyways hahah

message 21: by Morgan (new)

Morgan Rose | 89 comments I get mad that I stumble upon a spoiler but it won’t stop me from reading it. It does take away the magic and effectiveness if it’s spoiled so I try not to look anything up until I’m done with it.

Kinda sucks for example I watched all the Harry Potter movies first before even reading all the books. I wish I read the books a long time ago however there was things left out anyways so it was still a surprise in some ways.

message 22: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn (kaitlyneal) | 25 comments Usually I’m so delulu I think them spoiling isn’t even a real spoiler💀 and get crushed when I find out it was true.

When I did my first read through of Harry Potter, someone spoiled Dumbledore dying when I was only on the 4th book, I was SCRAMBLING to see if it was true or not

Clara 𐙚 🇵🇸 (clara17) | 272 comments I convince myself that they could be lying or I try not to think about the spoiler ( I fail) 💀

Clara 𐙚 🇵🇸 (clara17) | 272 comments I will read it anyway tho

message 25: by the elala (new)

the elala | 9 comments i actually don't care about spoilers. you spoil for me, i still can enjoy it. (i automatically forget)

message 26: by LadyRemy (new)

LadyRemy | 21 comments I love spoilers. That might be due to anxiety and liking being prepared for something. I'll read it anyway because I might feel different than the other person reading it.

message 27: by Storm (new)

Storm I just read Gone Girl, it being years after the movie was out, so the twist was thoroughly spoiled. Great book though, so, I read them anyway.

message 28: by Sylvia (new)

Sylvia Sylvie | 9 comments Depends. If the story sounds promising, I'll still read it.

message 29: by Kar (new)

Kar @Sylvia
agreed if it seems good I won't care and I'll just read it

message 30: by Ari (new)

Ari (arisxbooks) | 45 comments Still read it, all writers have their own spins on storytelling so even if you know the plot twist that doesn't mean you know how *that* author in particular will carry it out, which still makes it fun to read!

message 31: by Kelloggss22 (new)

Kelloggss22 | 14 comments Haha I don't really convince myself that they're lying, I just read it knowing there's a lot left that hasn't been spoiled. Reading a spoiler gives away the basic plot point, but it's all going to hit differently once you're immersed in the storyline and invested in the characters

message 32: by Kindle Jenner (new)

Kindle Jenner | 90 comments Well after I fight them and curse their bloodline, I put off reading it for a while in hopes I’ll forget, which I often do. It’s one of the few benefits of having a terrible memory.

Rissa (rissasreading) (rissasreading) | 177 comments I usually read it anyways if I'm enjoying it because I still want to see how it all happens and plays out

message 34: by Novelette (new)

Novelette Garcia | 9 comments i read it, spoilers make it better

message 35: by M.Biblioswine (new)

M.Biblioswine | 3 comments I'm one of those people who are not effected by spoilers at all. I will go ahead and read the book. Surprises or endings mean nothing to me. The process of an entire book is what I read for.

With that said. Over the years I have to remind myself not to spoil books for others.

message 36: by karissa m (new)

karissa m | 139 comments I would still read it but I would be mad at the person

message 37: by Krista (new)

Krista | 8 comments Read it anyway

message 38: by Homer (new)

Homer | 15 comments Neither, I kill that person

message 39: by Georgina (new)

Georgina Hynd | 9 comments A book is all about the journey, you might know the end but you don't know how it got there so definitely still reas it.

message 40: by Alisha (new)

Alisha Goldstein | 50 comments With how bad my memory is I'll forget what was said to spoil OR the how things got there is still unknown so the experience xan still be enjoyed.

message 41: by Lizp (new)

Lizp | 73 comments I read it anyway. There are some truly malicious reviewers on Goodreads who take a grudge against certain authors’ books , give one star reviews , and encourage their followers (some of whom are fake profiles) to give equally spiteful reviews about books. I have seen them do that to Sally Rooney and to other authors.

There is a truly vengeful female reviewer who spouted vitriol about The Silent Patient ( a wonderfully written thriller) and went really over the top to discourage so many others from even considering reading that book.

When other readers/ reviewers speak up about the books spitefully maligned by the nasty people being well written, the nasty reviewers prompt their followers to be insulting and abusive towards those who genuinely rate the books / authors highly.

message 42: by Ryebread (new)

Ryebread I'd still read it but I'd be very upset towards my freind.

Bellaaa (jeremiah's version!) I'd read it, because I still need to read the storyline instead of one plot twist that my "friend" spoiled
