Circa24 Circa24 | 32 comments It depends on the print book and the audiobooks, the narrator. I do have some eye problems that make reading more challenging these days, but I still enjoy print books. However, audiobooks are great while walking to work.

Years ago, I had a commute in traffic that took over an hour each way each day. I popped for the $150 to have a tape deck installed in my old beater and began taking audiobooks out of the library. They transformed my commute, attitude, and mood completely. I picked books that I would otherwise be unlikely to read. (Yes, I would never have bothered with the Aneid if not for that commute and those tapes.)

Today, I often mix and match, listening to something while walking and picking up where I left off in the physical or ebook later. With the eye strain I have after a long day, the former can be a life saver.

Silver.⋆。⋆☂˚。⋆。˚☽˚。⋆. (silvermoonlitforest) | 6 comments 100% depends on multiple things for me. i listen to a lot of audio books because i can do 1000 other things while i listen and i have about 100 and 1 hobbies that involve using my hands but dont require me to listen to anything. so i can do two things at once. im listening to a book as i type this. also, if the book kinda drags its a lot easier for me to listen than to physically read. theres books ive read on audio that i could have never made it through if i physically read it.

on the other hand, i adore the weight and feel of a print book in my hands, specially paperback. ebooks arent as nice but it still scratches that itch for me. i also love annotating and its a lot more fun if you have a print book.

at the end of the day, ill read all formats. i also tend to buy my favorites in all formats. physically, ebook and audio.

Lauren ♡︎ | 17 comments defo print. just been listening to my first audiobooks recently and I can't say I'm particularly impressed. it might just be that one but it doesn't feel nearly as good as actually seeing the words on paper

Ryebread Print, I get more lost in the book.

♥︎ Heather ⚔ (New House-Hiatus) (boston730) I do prefer print but I love having the option of both. I work from home and have the availability to listen to books while working, it's allowed me the get much more reading done for the year now that I listen to books more. When I'm done working for the day and able to really relax I can pick up my kindle or a physical copy and read that way.

Austin (Weird) (weirdwashere1) Print

message 68: by Ram (new)

Ram Tamiri (ramtamiri9) I prefer both at particular times, Paperback is good when we want to read all alone to have the feel of it, whereas audiobooks are basically a good option while doing any other tasks like excercising, cooking, ironing clothes etc where our mind will be absolutely free to have a secondary task.

But reading on digital screens is not my cup of coffee..

message 69: by Sakis (new)

Sakis | 3 comments Well, if it is a book that might have a movie/videogame adaptation or sequel/prequel and it borrows famous music, sounds and actors or voice actors soundalikes then I prefer an audiobook. For example every star wars book I have read was in audiobook format. For most other occasions I prefer print.

Amanda’s counting the days 🐾 (ajosephine) | 30 comments Print, preferably hardback, I love the feeling and noise of cracking a spine - makes me sound like a sadist 😂- and then holding it like a treasure after!

Daniela - The Flare D | 11 comments I love reading printed books. I tried the ebook experience but it was not for me. I have a personal relationship with books: I like underline phrases or words that hit me or make me think, I use to write comments aside by using colours (and I stopped to order books online, bookstores are prior for my purchases).

message 76: by sarah (new)

sarah | 1 comments print!

message 77: by Jessie (new)

Jessie | 5 comments I think both book and audiobook have pros and cons. What I like to do, is buy the book on audible first, listen to it, and then decide if it was worth the hype and buy it. I feel like the bookstagram stuff on tick Tok has gotten a bit out of hand recently and I have found myself buying books that honestly weren't worth they hype like they said. But if there is a book that I know for a fact that I would read/annotate, I would most definently buy it first in paper.

message 81: by Marissa (new)

Marissa Hamilton | 2 comments I’m definitely a print/ physical book girly! I like my sticky notes! However, I will say I am one for rereading series with the psychical book and audiobook! Mostly when the thicker fantasy series are involved!

message 83: by Dw (new)

Dw Deamson print 100%. I like print wayyy more because I can go at my own pace and get more attached to the characters.

message 84: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Darr (zeldanerd) | 1 comments Print for sure, but usually have one of each going on at once. A print book for when I can sit with the book and dive in. An audiobook for driving, working, gaming.

message 86: by Cyndi (new)

Cyndi | 1 comments I listen to audiobooks when I’m doing housework, gardening, doing puzzles, etc. But I also read a book on my kindle at the same time.

message 87: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 130 comments I’m doing an autobiography on Audible and it’s very interesting, but I can’t just sit still and listen. I only do Audible when I have a lonely, mindless activity to do. It takes forever to get through a book with Audible. I probably have every book for a month if I’m listening, whereas I could have read it in a day or two.

message 88: by sarah (new)

sarah | 288 comments Team BOOKS. nothing like having the book right in your hands and having soft music in the background and candles on with finger foods to munch on and just enjoy the book in a big comfy sofa and beautiful warm blanket. I like audio on a road trip.

Mark Marin | 4 comments Print.. you can read at your own pace, reread a section, etc.

message 93: by Alisha (new)

Alisha Goldstein | 50 comments Always print for me. I get too distracted when I'm listening to something as I have the impulse to do something while reading an actual book has me focusing on just that.

message 94: by [deleted user] (new)

Printtt. I cannot read an online book i just need the feel of an actual book the smell of a fresh book. I tried readin on my kindle but I couldn't

message 95: by [deleted user] (new)

The only way to go is the actual book

message 96: by Dee (new)

Dee Turner | 17 comments I prefer print for novels--it allows greater freedom to create scenes in the mind, instead of being limited to what fits with the narrator's voice. For non-fiction, especially for densely serious works such as American Prometheus (truly epic at about 800 pages, with mind-numbing, picayune details of conversations held decades ago), I can often stay better focused if I listen. (It didn't help at all to imagine the cozy settees, spare offices, dim lighting, or bedding furniture where Oppenheimer's musings may have taken place!)

The very best audio book so far has been Naomi Klein's own narration of Doppelganger--what a world is reflected in the nuances of her voice! I could wish more authors did this--but then, most may lack Klein's way with the spoken word, despite being fluently stylish in print. If you have Doppelganger in your TBR list, be sure it's the audio version!

Madaline Beck | 38 comments Print I need it right on my hands.

message 98: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 13 comments Print, always. I can't stand having things read to me/it is hard for me to understand something if it's being read to me.

message 99: by Christine (new)

Christine Cazeneuve | 12 comments Print. I read pretty quickly and find the pace of audio to slow. Additionally, my head tends to develop the characters voice and having someone else reading would ruin that.
