I read Little White Flowers. This is the month for books written by local authors to fall into my lap. A member of my church wrote this book. I liked it. She self published it. 5 stars.
I read Call Me Nathan: A Graphic Novel by Catherine Castro. An independent publisher published it. I wanted to read Nettle & Bone for this prompt but didn't have the time.
I just realized a book I finished last week was self-published:Under the Maui Sky by Kellie Coates Gilbert
It was self-published because it's not very good

Okay, that made me laugh. thank you.
Since we're including any author who has self-published anything, it just occurred to me that Brandon Sanderson technically qualifies. I hesitate to suggest him because, while he was almost unknown when I started reading his work, he's a bit of a behemoth at this point. But if you read one of these and still need to fill this prompt, here you go.
The Secret Novels were self-published by Dragonsteel.

The book is mainly short stories (some poems) about life in the Ukraine before World War II, life as a refugee in Poland and life in South London. The stories themselves are short and are reminiscent in style of folk tales.
