I'm reading People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks (adult fiction) for my book club, and reading The Night Hawks by Elly Griffiths (adult mystery) for myself. I just finished All Boys Aren't Blue by George M. Johnson, which was a delightful memoir written for teens.
Who is Tyrus? I probably live in a cave and Susan jeez...I feel out of my league already...but to answer the question...I am currently reading The Count of Monte Cristo, Poverty by America and trying to finish the first Gulag Archipelago. I have a couple others on the launch pad but I'm going to insert a totally fun read in between. I usually read multiple things at the same time...I'm not sure how I developed into that but it seems to work for me.
Tyrus is an ex pro wrestler turned bodyguard for celebrities, then acting and now a regular on Fox’s Greg Gutfeld Show.
Lately, I'm into cozy mysteries. Currently reading "The Cracked Spine," by Paige Shelton. Before that it was "Murder by Puffins," by Donna Andrews, and before that, "Mayhem in Christmas River," by Meg Muldoon. This summer, just before he passed away, I read "Once a Crooked Man," by David McCallum. A great crime novel. Highly recommend.
I just finished reading The Missing Sister, the 7th book in The Seven Sisters series by Lucinda Riley, one of the most engaging and intricate historical romance novels I've ever read. Sadly, this amazing author has passed away.
Hmmm . . . embarrassing, but here goes. I'm currently reading Dead Sea by Brian Keene and listening to The Hunger: The Complete Trilogy by Jeremy Robinson. I'm a horror and apocalypse fan, so that's mostly what I read. I have a stack of to-read books that do include other genres, but they are few and far between.
I’m reading Point of Honor by Robert Macomber. It’s part of a series of books he’s written about a Navy officer stationed in key west during the civil war. I’m really liking it.. also learning about South Florida and surrounding areas history. I’ve lived in south Florida for many years and am curious about its history.
I am reading The Spread by Iain Rob Wright and currently in the fifth book of a six-book series about an apocalypse caused by aliens.
The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese, The Light You Carry by Michelle Obama, Disappearing Earth by Julia Phillips and Then She was Gone by Lisa Jewell That's one Historical Fiction, one Self Help and 2 mysteries. Oh. and Quo Vadis, a Classic Historical Fiction The first four are fantastic. I am enjoying reading ABOUT Quo Vadis more than reading it.
I’m currently reading the 4th book in a series of 4 by Peter Laws. The main character is an ex priest/vicar who now helps police with unexplained murders. There’s a touch of the supernatural about the stories but I like the characterisation. They all seem real and down to earth while dealing with weird happenings and murder. Really enjoying them.
I’m reading Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak. I picked it up at the airport and lucky for me it is a great book.
After discovering author Lief Enger quite by accident, and totally enjoying his first book, Peace Like A River, I had to read his other two stand alone novels. He writes very unique stories, has great talent, and they were all great reads. He has also done a series which hasn't gotten as good reviews.
I am trying to finish my "challenges" and I am reading "On The Street Where You Live" by Mary Higgins Clark. Just starting, so can't say anything about it yet<>
I just started The House of Eve by Sadeqa Johnson, which is historical fiction. So far the audiobook is very good!
Susan I haven’t ever gotten into audio books but sometimes feel I have missed the boat by not trying them. I have been reading the Kurt Wallander series by Henning Mankell. It is a series based on The main character who is a local detective in a small Swedish town. It has been around awhile but I just accidentally discovered Henning Mankell and enjoy his writing this far.
When my husband and I traveled several hours each year to visit family, we loved listening to audio books to pass the time. But trying to do that at home never works because eventually I turn on the mixer or the vacuum cleaner or something that drowns out the recording for awhile.
Any audio book listener will tell you the narrator makes or breaks the book. You may have loved reading it and when you decide to listen to the story again, if the reader doesn't work it is a bust.
I am addicted to suspense thrillers, so every time you hear from me about what I'm reading it will most likely be something dark, suspenseful and probably a psychological thriller.I am currently reading The Guest by Cathryn Grant. Before that it was All But Safe by N.L. Hinkins. Both are authors that I read a lot because they mark all the boxes of what I consider a psychological thriller should be. And all of their books in my opinion, have been 4 or 5 stars
Shari, I love psychological thrillers as well. I plan on looking into some of the authors and books you mentioned!
Just started The Kind Worth Saving by Peter Swanson, the sequel to his amazing novel The Kind Worth Killing.
I am reading "Warpath The True Story of the Fighting Sioux Told in a Biography of Chief White Bull" by Stanley Vestal.
I'm listening to A Lullaby for Witches by Hester Fox and reading Police by Jo Nesbo for my book club. I went to add it to Goodreads, and found I'd already read it years ago. So far it isn't seeming familiar to me.
I'm reading "The Black" by Jacqueline Druga. I'm also reading children's picture books daily. Also, I'm reading a graphic novel my daughter mainly recommended for art and the story "Uzumaki" by Junji Ito.
I am currently reading "Tales of the Peculiar" by Ransom Riggs. This is a Novella for the Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children series. I am also reading "Spare" by Prince Harry. I just finished reading, "A Man Called Ove" by Fredrik Backman and another novella by Diana Gabaldon, "Lord John and the Succubus"
I'm reading The Vanishing Season by Dot Hutchingson. It is the last of a series of three. I have also read the other two.
Michelle wrote: "The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks-Dalton"Do you like The Light Pirate, so far? I have it in my collection, but haven't read it yet. I read Good Morning, Midnight a couple of months ago and really enjoyed it.
I usually read three at a time. My current reads are Career and Family by Claudia Goldin, The Anti-Federalist Papers by Ralph Ketchum and Like a Rolling Stone by Jann Wenner.
Just finished The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store. Now Nicholas Sparks’ The Return (from Mom’s Library); The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk, MD, and Before We Were Innocent by Ella Berman
I’m reading “Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer.” It’s fascinating, detailed and well written.
Celia wrote: "The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese, The Light You Carry by Michelle Obama, Disappearing Earth by Julia Phillips and Then She was Gone by Lisa Jewell That's one Historical Fiction, one Self H..."I read Disappearing Earth. about a year ago. I remember really enjoying it!
