Drace (dracenines) | 7569 comments This thread is to clean up issues with the American editions of The Borrowed by Chan Ho-Kei.

1. US Paperback Edition: The Borrowed (ISBN 9780802125880)

- The publication date is incomplete. It was published January 3, 2017.

- The page count is incorrect. It should be 496 pages.

- The description is missing its first paragraph. The following needs to be added to the beginning of the description:
An epic and award-winning crime novel, The Borrowed follows a preternaturally gifted Hong Kong police detective’s eventful career, delving deep into the city’s momentous history over the past fifty years.

2. US Kindle Edition: The Borrowed (ASIN B01LFQ6QOG)

- The description has incorrect paragraph breaks and a praise quote. It should be corrected to the following:
An epic and award-winning crime novel, The Borrowed follows a preternaturally gifted Hong Kong police detective’s eventful career, delving deep into the city’s momentous history over the past fifty years.

From award-winning Hong Kong writer Chan Ho-kei, The Borrowed tells the story of Kwan Chun-dok, a Hong Kong detective whose career spans fifty years of the territory’s history. A deductive powerhouse, Kwan becomes a legend in the force, nicknamed “the Eye of Heaven” by his awe-struck colleagues. Divided into six sections told in reverse chronological order—each of which covers an important case in Kwan’s career and takes place at a pivotal moment in Hong Kong history from the 1960s to the present day—The Borrowed follows Kwan from his experiences during the Leftist Riot in 1967, when a bombing plot threatens many lives; the conflict between the HK Police and ICAC (Independent Commission Against Corruption) in 1977; the Tiananmen Square Massacre in 1989 to the Handover in 1997; and the present day of 2013, when Kwan is called on to solve his final case, the murder of a local billionaire, while Hong Kong increasingly resembles a police state. Along the way we meet Communist rioters, ultra-violent gangsters, stallholders at the city’s many covered markets, pop singers enmeshed in the high-stakes machinery of star-making, and a people always caught in the shifting balance of political power, whether in London or Beijing–all coalescing into a dynamic portrait of this fascinating city.

Tracing a broad historical arc, The Borrowed reveals just how closely everything is connected, how history always repeats itself, and how we have come full circle to repeat the political upheaval and societal unrest of the past. It is a gripping, brilliantly constructed novel from a talented new voice.

7. All Editions

- The original publication date should be June 6, 2014. I figured this date out by Google searching the name listed as the publisher for the original Chinese-language edition of the book (“皇冠文化出版有限公司”, which Google Translate tells me means “Crown Culture Publishing Co., Ltd”), which led me to the publisher’s website. I typed the original title of the book (13.67) into the search bar, and that led me to the book’s page on the publisher’s website, which lists June 6, 2014 as the original publication date. Here’s a link to the page run through Google Translate’s Translate Website feature as proof: https://www-crown-com-tw.translate.go...

Thank you for your help. A few final notes:

The description on #4 has been changed and is incorrect. It needs to be the same as the Audible edition's description.

The descriptions on item #5 and item #6 still need the paragraph break detailed in the OP.

Thank you again for your help with these issues.

Drace (dracenines) | 7569 comments Giving this another bump in case anyone wants to correct the audiobook errors detailed in my last post. If not, I'll just start a new thread for them in the regular book/author issues folder.

Drace (dracenines) | 7569 comments One final bump for audiobook issues before I let the thread die and switch to a new one in book/author issues.
