Javier (palchetti) | 30419 comments I'd go with the original date of the adaptation, as they are considered different books.

Is the second entry combined with any editions of the original work by Charles Dickens? Maybe the date carried over from there.

I think I agree that that makes the most sense.

Unsure whether it's combined with any originals as there are so many, but I have a handful of these editions on my shelves (I read a ton of them as a kid!) and almost all of them use the original publication date of the original source material.

I'd like to put in a request for librarians to correct the dates, but I'm pretty sure no librarian will actually want to change it without a clear directive from GR. Do you know if there's any such thing? Should I request official clarification from Jaclyn?

There are many different adaptations (and possibly also original editions) incorrectly combined with each other (different adapters). I'll see what I can separate.

ETA: that was a huge mess. I've separated all adaptations and original editions of Oliver Twist that were incorrectly combined with the Great Illustrated Classics editions. Here are the Great Illustrated Classics (Adapter Marian Leighton) editions: https://www.goodreads.com/work/editio...
