Mirco Oliveri Sofia | 13 comments I always had this vision that one day the world will be divided into "macro countries" that differ between each other for lifestyle choices: there will be a capitalist macrocountry, a naturist macrocountry, a nihilist macrocountry etc..
Let's say I accept or love capitalism with its pros and cons, I decide to live in the capitalist macrocountry. But if I want to live in a community-oriented with nature where there's no capitalism but a bargaining system between citizens who see life in a way alike mine, I move to the naturist macrocountry (or call it as you want)..
You get the idea.

Is there a sci-fi book that has been already envisioned something like this?

Thanks a lot!!

Peter Greathead | 5 comments This sounds a lot like "The Guardians" by John Christopher.

Andy | 2124 comments David Brin's Existence has something a bit like that. Also Ada Palmer's "Too Like the Lightning" has Hives with different approaches to life (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Too_Lik... " There are seven Hives: the Humanists who value achievement; Cousins, philanthropy; Masons, logic; Gordians, intelligence; Europe, national identity; Mitsubishi, land and business; and Utopians, the future. There are three groups of Hiveless who each adhere to the White, Gray, and Black laws. Each Hive has its own capitol, form of government, and favored language. All are allotted representatives in the Universal Free Alliance Senate. "
