I used my sister and I as an example only to illustrate how within one family children can be impacted differently by the same events.

Drew/Darrin's big event was the death of his mother. Vance then leveraged that trauma and twisted the kid into the screwed up monster he became. But first he convinced him he was the only one who cared about him and then positioned himself as an idol. Vance deserves the same sentence as Darrin, if not longer. Eve recognized this, too.

Sharon, I think you're right about evil getting more attention. Those who triumph over extreme adversity are less frequently acknowledged.

lorii (Loriidae) I was pleased to see that JDR, didn't include an Eve and victim interaction death dream in this one. I felt as a device it was becoming repetitive in the last few books we have read.

I also thought this was one of the better plots, to this point in the series.

Always love the scenes like this one that drive home just how important Roarke has become to Eve...he's like a homing beacon, grounding her. Robb does such a good job with delivering the intense connection that binds them together.

This story had the best of what the series offers...a great procedural, Eve and Roarke moments, the personal aspect with Charles & Louise's wedding, classic Peabody and Eve interactions and complicated killers.
