I read half of this yesterday... started at doctor's office when I finished previous book... but I wouldn't say I followed very well... jumps right in with new characters and/or characters I don't remember very well from the previous book...

I think I was just lost in the pain fugue, so I'm just going to start over today, I think...

Second try went much better...

Really liked this... reminded me a bit of Down Among the Dead Men & Reaver and any story with a Hell Plot, really...

I heard, on reddit, that Slayton has an idea for a 2nd trilogy, if the publishers are happy with sales on this first trilogy... the ending gave me (view spoiler)[Tarot Sequence vibes with the school and stuff... (hide spoiler)]

The theme here definitely felt redemptive...

Starting today--through Chapter 5--I'm glad the book didn't leave us hanging (view spoiler)[and jumped right back at the minute of the ending. Also it's fun having Vic & Josie together... I wouldn't mind her learning from her mistakes and coming out a better person. (hide spoiler)]

Finished! Really enjoyed it. I haven't read those other books you mention, but I did get (view spoiler)[some Tarot vibes, with the Fae roles, the bond between Vic & Adam being kind of like a Tala bond maybe (hide spoiler)] even before reading that spoiler on the sequel pitch.

I really liked how (view spoiler)[this book really felt like a family story. The whole series really, but this book in particular, bringing the WHOLE family into it, and finding... maybe not redemption, or even forgiveness, but understanding, for great-grandpa, and forgiveness for Bobby Sr. Everyone came together in the end to take GG down, and I like that Adam didn't have to kill all the demons, just reassess their use.

The fact that Adam and Vic are no longer bonded makes me think of the conversation we've been having in the Aurora Cycle thread, about fated/bonded mates as a trope--it's nice to see that cut and trope overturned, letting them take the relationship slower.

I also like that we FINALLY got a book with a decent chunk where Adam & Vic team up! It wasn't long, but they were apart for ALL of book 2 and barely together for book 3. So that was nice! (hide spoiler)]

Finished and I really liked it! I was satisfied with the ending which as picky as I am with endings is a very good thing! (view spoiler)[I kind of thought that Adam & Vic wouldn't reunite until the end of the book so I was pleasantly surprised that was not the case. I mean they were separated again but not the entire book. Both had to deal with some really uncomfortable family things but I liked how the Binders (except for great-grandpa) came together. I would definitely read another trilogy in this universe. (hide spoiler)]

Just finished as well and I agree with all of you - these books got better as we went along. I loved the whole family angle, Life vs. Death, and redemption... I don't think in Adam's place, (view spoiler)[ I would have been strong enough not to kill great grandpa! He is a better man than I am, because John had inflicted way too much evil on the world for him not to go unpunished...

I did want more of Spider the cat and the emo Elf kid - favorite characters of this book!!! (hide spoiler)]

Am I the only one who feels like the series needs to continue? Like we didn't get enough closure? What I am really saying is, I want more!:)

Fingers crossed for that! Iain did say in an earlier post that Slayton has ideas for a sequel series...

We really should consider working in the Nyxia series by Scott Reintgen at some point, Slayton, Reintgen & KD Edwards at one point were interacting on social media which I think is where I first heard about this series and Edwards has frequently mentioned how much of a fan he is of Nyxia. Like we don't have enough to read! I know, I know! Not saying immediately but at some point! :)

Nyxia? I have had that on my TBR for a while... picked up the third on audible and the other two are on NO Libby... I'd be game...

I'll add it to my list of "bug this person about this eventually"... unless we actually *do* want to make plans... *evil smile*

I thought you had grabbed them! Scott is the author who went viral at Christmas because his 3yo son unwrapped all of the presents he & his wife had put under the tree "to make it easier" for his siblings, SO CUTE!!!!

I did see that as well, very glad we will be visiting with this gang again. From what I gather Redneck Revenant has Annie visiting Adam so is she not dead?
