separate authors: two books with the same title

Maybe it's just me, but this is a really tedious exercise.

Washington Allston published a posthumous book, entitled "Lectures on Art" with some variations. Some editions list Richard Henry Dana Jr. (or sometimes Richard Henry Dana), the editor, as the author with or instead of Allston.

John Ruskin also gave "Lectures on Art."

These two men are not the same man, so their works are not the same. But at some time, the two got combined. Unfortunately, I can't find a good way to separate them. The "separate" tool shows only the title of each edition, which isn't very useful in this case. I tried separating each edition individually with the intent of recombining them later, but that "reached a temporary limit for combining and separating works."

Is there a better way to do this?
