Kriyakid The war on the plain of Dharmakshetra is the war between action performed from inner stillness and thus without desire for the “fruit” of actions, and action performed from desire for the pleasure and prestige which are believed to be the fruit of action. It is the war between life lived for kama and artha, based on outward attention, and life lived from dharma and moksha, based on inward attention. It is the war between life ruled by ego, the Kurus, and life ruled by the soul, the higher consciousness within that transcends the mask of the ego.

Through the cultivation of inward attention the realm of the Pandavas is discovered. Without knowledge of the Pandus through cultivation of inward attention the Gita itself cannot really be read, let alone properly understood.

The war on the plain of Dharmakshetra Kurukshetra is thus the war between inner attention and outer attention.
