With the turning of the calendar page, it's time to look back over your previous month's reading. Any standouts? Recommend the middle grade books you loved. Maybe we'll love them, too!

Two of my favorite reads from October were Summer of the Gypsy Moths by Sara Pennypacker, in which two of the nicest girls you'll ever meet have to bury a body in the back garden. And The Whiz Mob and the Grenadine Kid by Colin Meloy, in which an observant boy with writerly leanings notices a group of pickpockets working the crowds in a foreign city ... and aspires to become one of them.

How about you? What were your good reads?

Justine Laismith (justinelaismith) | 348 comments Oops, I just realised I read Bone Talk in Sep. October was also by the same author, Wild Song. It features the same characters, except this time they travel to American to take part in the 1904 American St Louis World Fair.
