Tien - 5
Ellen - 1
Amy - 5

I think Ursula is feeling a bit out of sorts given this is my last day rolling.

ANITA IS BACK TOMORROW!

Joy D | 10073 comments JoAnne, I am using a tag-related benefit to move forward 1 space, putting me on 78. Will note on my Board.

This is another 5,6 roll for me, so I'll be reading a book from someone else's Board in addition to the one I landed on.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11062 comments Joanne, I added a 5 space tag related benefit to my roll. I am now on #38. Noted on both logs.

I would like to use a tag-related benefit for 100+ taggers to roll 2 extra dice, hence the 3 indicated above.

Thank you so much, Nicole!!

And a big big thank you to Theresa, Kate, Joanne, and Rachel who have all, at varying times, covered for me this year. It's really been a rough year! I hope 2024 is a lot better.

Nah, Ursula is just playing with me ... trying to lull me into amiable placidity before slapping me down! It is going to be a while before I can ask for a roll - I have 2 books to read. Let's see what happens before then ... on sundays to be precise. 🫣

message 69: by LibraryCin (new)

LibraryCin | 11669 comments Good to have you back, Anita. I'm sorry your DH is not progressing like you (and I'm sure he) would like him to.

I'm also happy to help out! I will be on holidays through all of December, so that will be even easier for me to help then. (I am heading "home" for Christmas - first time in 5 years! - but I think StS will be done by then, anyway).

message 70: by NancyJ (new)

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11062 comments Anita, I’m so sorry to hear that. Do you have a good OT? It doesn’t hurt to try a few different people. Sometimes one tiny variation in a technique or exercise makes a big difference, and some people are more motivating than others. (I plan to go back to a busy PT/OT group that takes a team approach. It was a little off putting at first to work with different people each visit, but the results were worth it.)

message 71: by NancyJ (new)

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11062 comments For my 1-3 roll, I would like to move Joanne to #55, The Witness for the Dead.

Joanne I hope you love it!

Jen K | 3143 comments I used a swap to keep my progress going and the review is up.

I would like a new roll and to use an earlier tag related bonus to add 2 dice to the roll for a roll of 3 please (3). All noted on my tracker.

Anita, so sorry to hear that improvement is not going as quickly as hoped. Thank goodness at least quit that other stressful job. It has been a rough year.

Joy D | 10073 comments For today's "roll," I am using one of my saved Special Advantages to move forward 10 spaces, which completes this Board!

I will set up a new Board and request my first roll by today or tomorrow.

We are having some challenges on this front. We have in home PT, but the PT won't restore the arm function, and it's hurting my husband's shoulders and neck a lot. I think they aren't giving the surgery itself enough time to heal. The PT will help maintain arm range of motion and strength, but it's creating a catch-22 in that he feels worse from it. Then, to top it off, the PT company the hospital set us up with doesn't have OT, and the insurance people won't cover OT from a separate company (eye roll). We are going to be switching to outpatient PT in a few weeks, so we are waiting for that so we can hopefully engage someone for OT. The whole thing is a freakin' disaster.

Anita, I've been thinking of you and your husband. You have the difficult role of support and keeping up a good front while you may not always feel that way.

Patience is not easy and healing takes time.

You are totally on the money with your statements. It's definitely hard to keep cheery all the time although some tasks are growing on me . . .to my surprise. But others, not so much.

Thanks so much, Pam! I just feel like a year of recovery is going to be unbearable, so really really hoping this goes faster than anticipated.

I agree with Fran that it takes time and patience.

I had the same problem after my car accident. I did too much PT too soon and it made it worse. (It was more effective after I got injections in my neck months later). I also went back to work too soon - two bad decisions. It would have been fine for a younger person without other physical issues, but it set me back. I was totally exhausted (I didn’t know that’s a natural reaction to inflammation) and I beat myself up for it. It was the end of the semester so I mostly worked from home, but I really should have rested my brain too because of the concussion. (It happened the day after Election Day, so I’ve been thinking about it today. )

I don’t think home PTs get as many opportunities to learn from other therapists. There might be 10-20 different exercises for each specific issue, but most have a few favorites. If he reacted poorly at first, they should back up to one that involves smaller easier movements, and let him build up the number of repetitions. It’s boring, and if he’s like me, he’ll want to jump ahead or stop. (Men are supposedly even worse.). But small steps are more effective in the long run.

It might be too soon, but I would consider getting recommendations for the best therapists in case you want a second opinion later on. (Private pay isn’t too bad where I live. )

Theresa | 15510 comments Anita - I send hugs and encouragement to you and your husband! So so difficult and exhausting. Alas, there are no shortcuts.

Plus it isn't even baseball season so neither of you can be distracted by watching games!

We are all here for you! In fact Kaffeklatsch is a really good spot to stop by and share!

Meanwhile, the Cabanna Boys, FireFighters, CGI Tom, Gnarly and even the Butler and Wardrobe Attendant from the Royal Coach send you both a group hug and encouragement. Chocolates are on hand in each car for you whenever you drop by.

Can I get a new roll (which will take me off the clerk board).

Then I'll post my new porter board and be ready for a new roll once I get the review of SoA up.

Okay .. this rolls me off my Clerk board. It's a "special" roll, but I wouldn't use it in any case.

I assume I don't read a book from Porter right away ... but should ask for a new "starting" roll for that board once I've posted it?

Please confirm.
