TimeFliesAway | 121 comments Apparently Goodreads and StoryGraph are "rivals", but I like both to keep track of my read books. Both have positive and "negative" features. For example, I prefer the style and colors of Goodreads, but on the other hand I simply love the reading challenges on SG.

Feel free to share your username so we can follow each other there as well! I'm TimeFliesAway there, just like here.
I post quite a lot reading challenges, feel free to join.

I hope it's not against the rules haha.
If it's not, I'd like this to be a place where we can "promote" our reading challenges on SG or just share usernames. :D

Mary ♥ | 44 comments I use both too! GR is more popular, has more books indexed, and I enjoy the community aspect better. Sadly, it's also horribly outdated and riddled with bugs.

Storygraph is great for intuitive reading tracking and their algorithm gives better recommendations. Also, who doesn't love their little wrap-up at the end of the year.

Mark DK Berry (markdkberry) | 7 comments I read an article that suggested it was less community friendly in terms of connecting with readers. I am pretty busy learning how to use GR and find it pretty good for that side, but will keep an eye on this post to see how it progresses.

Yea, apart from the reading challenges, you don't see your friends' updates on your home page. It's more centered towards your own tracking.
On the other hand, adding books is easier bc you don't need to join a librarians group, anyone can add anything, even webtoons and such.
So, yea, both have ups and downs. I personally would still recommend it, just for fun lol.

Actually, StoryGraph has more books indexed, since Goodreads only accepts books with an ISBN, whereas on SG you can also add webtoons and any other internet-only publications. And it's easier to add books.

Otherwise agree.

I also love that SG separates audiobooks and read books. While audiobooks sure count as books you've read, personally, I'd like to know how many pages I've read and how many I've listened to lol. Just a personal bonus.

Kay-Mika My user name un SG is 'sockendrache'.
And yes, it is not very community friendly. An alternative would be Read-O but that is a German-App and I don't know if they have an English interface :/

added you!
I'm german but I'm not much a fan of apps... mostly bc I don't have space left lol but I prefer using everything on my desktop. Waiting until they make a website...
Do you have LovelyBooks? That's a good german alternative to Goodreads, which I use as well.

Fair. Though you could just copy every review you write here. That's what I do at least.
Also I like that SG has those 5 questions and moods to select in the review tab. It's easier to see what the book is about, instead of reading through 50+ reviews.

Yeah, I have a lovelybooks account, but I don't use it because the site drives me nuts. I don't see the point of having different 'clubs/houses' whatever they call it and their book sorting is just 🤬 Books that are clearly fantasy are marked as children's books because the publisher said so? What? And a book can only be in one genre. Not multiple, because?
And other issues
