The Pugilist at Rest by Thom Jones. Absolutely inspired me to start writing.
The Cellist of Sarajevo it was really moving and well written
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. Definitely not a classic, nothing groundbreaking, and I’d wager that no one else in this group listed it. But I read it when I was 15 in a single night, quite literally devoured it, and it has been my favorite book since. Simply because it made me feel every emotion under the sun and turned me on to the beauty that is being so enraptured by a book that you can’t put it down long enough to even notice the rising sun or chirping birds.
Awesome! I went U. of Nebraska when Rainbow Rowell was there. She's a fun writer!

As a young girl, "Girl of the Limberlost" by Gene Stratton-Porter. It was atmospheric and rather strange but beautiful. I have read it several times. As an adult, many books have made an impact on me as a reader. I have thought about Gloria Naylor's "Women of Brewster Place" quite frequently.
A lot of the books that had the biggest impact on me our books that I read when I was younger. Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time was important to me because it was one of the first times I had a book where the female protagonist wasn’t pretty or sweet.
Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah (Just please don't watch the Netflix series)
I actually have three.
1. The fault in our stars which was the first book I ever read. Had it right when it came out. John Green became my favourite author and now i've read literally all his books. Just need one to complete my collection.
2. The alchemist which was the first Paulo Coelho book I read and it honestly made me fall in love with his writing.
3. Veronika decides to die again Paulo Coelho. I love how he brings out issues and he explains it in his writing that yk everybody is crazy and it's not only a few people who are insane.

Three books: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M. Persig, Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, and The Stranger by Albert Camus; I think there is quite an obvious theme running through all three, maybe one day I will write my own.
When I was young, I would say Nancy Drew and Jane Eyre.As an adult, The Divine Comedy and The Giving Tree.

An older book was House of the Dead by Fyodr Dostoevsky but more recently In Memorium by Alice Winn
The ACOTAR series by Sarah J Maas. I haven't read in years and reading used to be something I did all the time. just recently I picked up the 1st book of ACOTAR and I haven't stopped reading since. not just her books, but all kinds of books! I also finally started writing my first novel bc her books inspired me.
A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving.I so identified with the main character that it kinda messed me up (in a good way). And of course, the climax/culmination of the story is so beautifully done, that I occasionally dream of writing something that perfect.

For me it was the Harry Potter series which made me fell in love with reading.
