Tanja | 315 comments I often finish the book because I bought it. And I hope that the book maybe gets more exciting at the end.

message 102: by Danna (new)

Danna P | 2 comments Most of the time I finish the book. Only two times this year did I not finish a book just because it was so awful.

message 103: by Francisco (new)

Francisco Martinez | 21 comments I like it, i will continue , is the Mist by Stephen King

message 104: by Faruk (new)

Faruk Hodžić | 15 comments finish it than make a hatefull review

message 105: by PJ (new)

PJ (pjheartsu) I DNF. There are too many books to read and very little time. Time is precious, and I rather read something I enjoy.

real

message 107: by Aditya (new)

Aditya (adityasahay) | 4 comments try to finish atleast 50%, then decide if I want to add it to dnf list

message 108: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (readingwithstardust) | 4 comments It depends on how far in I am by the time I have to ask that question. If I'm over the 50% mark I usually stick with it. Especially if it's verging on a genuine hate read. If it's merely boring, or I think it's going to put me in a rut I'll DNF and move on.

message 109: by Tate0108 (new)

Tate0108 (tate182) It depends on the book and my mood. Sometimes book are just too thicc to finish it if I'm bored out of my mind, otherwise I'll just judge it heavily

message 110: by Diane (new)

Diane Finish it ...then take your dislike out on the review 😁😃😊

message 111: by nabiwabisabi (new)

nabiwabisabi | 10 comments usually i try to keep going but when it feels like an actual painful chore to keep going, i dont

Noel ◇There Must Be Some Kind Of Way Outta Here, Said The Joker To The Thief◇ (noel4444) | 46 comments I am reading for more than a year so
I haven't read anything THAT bad yet,
But Stay out Of the Basement by R.L Stine was a bit weird but I read it :D

message 113: by Krysta (new)

Krysta Lynn (nocturnal16) | 2 comments It really depends on the book and if I can push my way through. Sometimes I can't push through and I stop an pick it up at another time, and other times I speed read through or read the last sentence to get me interested. It really depends on how badly the book is written I guess.

message 114: by Shelby (new)

Shelby Kay | 29 comments Depends. There was a book that took me almost two months to get 100 pages in so I quit but if it just slows me down a bit without feeling like I’m rereading a page or making me want to stop reading I’ll keep going, especially if the overall concept is something I’m normally interested in

message 115: by Ranya (new)

Ranya | 5 comments it depends, if the book is bad i close it and never look at it again, if it's average but not bad i'll try to finish it.

message 116: by Tim (new)

Tim Mcguire | 166 comments I ditch it immediately

message 117: by Erica (new)

Erica | 10 comments I am horrible about continuing. I cannot handle not knowing what happens. maybe it gets better, maybe not. I may put it down for a time, but I always end up finishing it eventually.

ray_rose ੈ✩‧₊˚ | 5 comments one ick and im gone- (usually, there are exceptions)

message 120: by Natalia (new)

Natalia (nataliarr99) | 13 comments I usually finish it, just because i am already immersed in the history

message 121: by Alice (new)

Alice A | 2 comments Sometimes I'll quit after giving the book a few chapters. Other times I'll read on and a. regret it b. feel good about giving it time to evolve.

message 122: by Michael (new)

Michael Bertrand | 86 comments I'll usually push through.

I quit immediately if there's:

1. racism/ white supremacism
2. graphic/ exploitative non-consensual sexual content.
3. graphic/ triggering substance use. I'm in recovery. No book is worth my sobriety.

message 123: by Kaytie (new)

Kaytie | 72 comments I rarely DNF because unfinished stories really bother me, even if I don't like the book, but there have been a couple where I just wasn't invested enough to finish.

message 124: by Pooohbooks (new)

Pooohbooks | 36 comments I usually finish it because I don't like leaving things in the middle...

message 125: by Anne Marie (new)

Anne Marie | 9 comments If I am listening to an audiobook, I am way more likely to finish it even if I hate it. If I am physically reading it and I am less than 50% in and still do not like it, then I will DNF. If I am over 50%, I push through.

message 126: by felicia.books (new)

felicia.books It depends on how far along I am with the reading

message 127: by luna_inthesouth (new)

luna_inthesouth | 72 comments i have a terrible habit at not being able to leave anything half done ! so i do my best to finish them at last

message 128: by Bailey (new)

Bailey I always have to finish it lol

message 129: by Dave (new)

Dave | 34 comments I guess it depends how far I'm into the book before I realize I don't want to read any more. Usually, if I'm not captivated by page two, then I put it aside and move on. I'll skim the first page before I even buy a book. It's gotta have a good start! Heck, if the author can't write the first page well, why would I want to stick around?

message 130: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Emma Robins (kaylarobins) | 63 comments @Dave, for me curiosity is at its peak.
Now I am reading a book that displeases me with the extremely explicit description of erotic scenes.
I have a little more and I will finish it.
Curiosity really works for me.
I can't help myself.
I skipped the problematic passages and just enjoyed the story.

Lady Caroline de Bourgh | 2 comments It really depends on how far into the book I am and how much I paid for it

message 132: by Nikki (new)

Nikki | 3 comments for me it depends but recently if I dont like it snd just cant get into it I abandon ship and move on

message 133: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Durand | 29 comments For the past 15 months, I’ve had a steady diet of ARC’s, so I’m obligated to give a review for those. Of 395 ARC’s I have only DNF two. I don’t submit a review for a DNF; I simply notify the author why I didn’t finish reading their book. Prior to ARC’s, I read books on recommendations, so there was no risk in the purchase. Currently, for non-ARC’s, I read books on KU and if I don’t like it (DNF), I simply return it to KU. For non-indie authors, I read their books on Cloud Library, and if I DNF, I again return it. For those I do like, then I purchase them (usually expensive) for a reread.

message 134: by Lalrinawmi (new)

Lalrinawmi Sailo (wwwlinkedincominlalrinawmi-sailo) | 13 comments Honestly I just abandon the book. If it does not capture my attention, I don't see a point in continue reading it.

message 135: by Wyetha (new)

Wyetha (wyesreads) | 229 comments I feel so bad if I have to quit a book before I'm done. But I have done it. I'm reading two now that I don't care for. One is an ARC book that I'm trying to finish, the other I left at 56% 3 months ago.

I don't believe that I should be halfway though a horror novel before anything happens. Decisions, Decisions.

message 136: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Emma Robins (kaylarobins) | 63 comments @Wyetha, what is an ARC book?

Please do quit reading a book if you don't feel to continue.
It is not necessary to finish the book.
I quit reading three books like that
One is An Autobigraphy of a Yogi due to its complex words, and Sapiens and Brief History of time because I want to read those 2 in paperback.

message 139: by Awjtf (new)

Awjtf Ditch the book! I have too many good ones to read. Why waste my time?

message 140: by Christophe (new)

Christophe Vermaelen | 4 comments There are so many good books I want to read. By the time I reach page 79, I make a final decision on the not so good one I'm reading and if by then I still don't like the characters or the storylines, I move on to the next one on my reading list.

message 141: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Emma Robins (kaylarobins) | 63 comments @Cristophe can you tell me what book it is?
To can get an idea.
If it's possible!

message 142: by Sylvia (new)

Sylvia Sylvie | 9 comments I just abandon it and start with a new one immediately. I have a loooonnggg list of books waiting to be read, so I cannot waste time on books that are not to my liking.

message 143: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Emma Robins (kaylarobins) | 63 comments @Sylvia

Rew (rewsalem) | 109 comments if i dont like it i simply stop there os no grey when it comes to books either u like it or u dont

message 145: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 6 comments I always finish it. Though it takes me way longer than it should to finish due to lack of interest and the dread of reading another page. Thankfully I’ve only experienced this a handful of times.

message 146: by Tim (new)

Tim Mcguire | 166 comments I move on

message 147: by the elala (new)

the elala | 9 comments for me it depends on how horrible and annoying the characters are

message 148: by Sylvia (new)

Sylvia Sylvie | 9 comments @Kayla
Definitely more than 10 years. My earliest goodreads reading challenge was from 2012, so yeah they accumulate.
