Book # 5 in The First Law World, which could also be a stand alone.
The story takes place over 3 days, after the implied deaths of a few characters previously, and The South is again at War with the Northmen. We meet a gang of new characters, on both sides. But the older characters were my favorites again. However, in Abercrombie's fashion there are strong women on both, which I always enjoy.
Each day's section begins with a "quote page" and Day Three says it all
I'm not sure how much violence and butchery the readers will stand" Robert E. Howard
The 3 days take place on the battlefield, so the violence is heavy. However the comedic writing of Abercrombie is still there and there is enough of it to add some humor to lighten things up.
