Thoughts on who Elain should end up with (ACOTAR)

I’m curious on who y’all think Elain should end up with. I feel like the three sisters and the three bat boys would be boring. I just think she shouldn’t end up with Azriel, while also really wanting Lucien to have a happy ending.

Listen love all the characters but Elain and Lucien just because I ship Mor and Azriel so hard (one more opinion is that Ianthe and Tamlin are meant to be

My political, go-to answer to not cause any discourse: Whatever makes the most sense for the story as a whole will make me happy. If SJM tries to force a relationship that doesn't make sense within the story, then I'm not going to be too happy. However, if it makes sense for Elain to end up with Lucien/Azriel/single-auntie-for-life for the good of the story, then I'm happy.

My internal answer that I don't like to share because of the discourse it can cause if I don't get to properly explain: Azriel and Elain. (And before I go further, just know that this in no way means I dislike Gwyn! She is one of my fave characters in Silver Flames, and I want her to have a happy ending too, however that makes sense for the story.) I think there is way too much foreshadowing for them to not be endgame. Emphasis on that being MY opinion though. I also think there's great opportunity there for a plot line that can further develop this world that SJM has built. Never once in her books have we seen a mating bond challenged, and the Archeron sisters are notorious for going against the cauldron now let's be honest. We also have yet to see what having two mates could lead to, even though SJM has said it's a possibility. The potential that this plot line has is too good. Think about it... say there's a mating bond challenge between Lucien and Azriel over Elain... what are the consequences if say something were to happen to Helion, and now we've got Lucien rising to power AND dealing with this? Or what happens with Rhysand's involvement? Where does that lead this brotherly bond? Plus all of that with the threat of Koschei and the mortal queens, PLUS (view spoiler)[ all of that and the crossover from Crescent City (hide spoiler)]. There's so much room for SJM to play within that plot line and personally I don't think it'd be boring at all, I think that would be so exciting and would leave me on the edge of my seat. I don't yet picture another plot line for Elain that gives so much opportunity within this world. But again, ALL OF THAT is just my opinion, and I fully respect other ideas and ships, and in the end just want it to make sense for the story and for the characters. 💜

I think that Elain shouldn’t end up with anyone, and if she does it shouldn’t be Azriel.
I like Azriel and Gywn personally. But it would be kind of a waste if a series as good as ACOTAR just did the whole, three boys and three girls it matches up perfectly, thing. I think Elain should lead her own life. BUT I NEED A BOOK FOR AZRIEL IMMEDIATELY I love him sm

idc as long as it’s not lucien. i’m not a fan of him personally and i think it would be a way better idea to explore how even if they might be ‘mates’ it doesn’t mean they should end up together. bc tbh i hate the whole concept of love just being up to fate and people (like elain) seemingly not having any autonomy over who they end up with, yk but hey that’s just me

i really really really really really really really want it to be elucien💞 it's gonna be so good! they have so so much potential! the angst, the pining, the jealous mate trope😭🔥 just imagine if they have a forced proximity.. i'll die happy🥹 gwynriel would serve as friends to lovers and they're just so well-suited for each other. plus, the parallels between azriel's bonus and quinlar's bonus chapter!!

I don’t think Elaine deserves azriel, but I don’t want her with lucien cos I want someone to reject the mating bond and there is no chemistry between them. I’d be happy if Elaine was alone forever it suits her more imo.

^ i don't really think sjm will make elain reject the mating bond. she has said multiple times that she loves lucien. and if elain rejects the mating bond, lucien will literally go mad. i don't really think sjm would do that to him. and she also talked about elain and lucien a few times. how elain is someone lucien didn't see coming, and how elain and lucien would go on a date in venice irl, and they're both happiest in nature. i really do think they are endgame. but we'll see ig🩷

Elucien probs will end up together but I just feel like there are so many mates even tho it’s supposed to be a rare thing. I wanna see someone - maybe mor/azriel - be as happy as feysand/nessian but not have the mating Bond to force that on them…

I think Elain shouldn’t end up with anyone especially azriel. They don’t click, in my opinion. Lucien and Elain is meh, I think she’s better than Lucien. Lucien is too obsessed with her being his mate and not actually Elain herself. Out of everyone if I had to choose I would want Elain and mor to get together. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
