Amy | 12953 comments Welcome James, I’m not much of a dragon reader either. But I’m using this challenge to get between one and four books off my TBR. But I do think Steig Larson is an excellent choice. I enjoyed that trilogy very much. I look forward to getting to know you and reading the reviews. I think you’re gonna love us.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11108 comments FYI Fourth Wing just went on sale at Audible. 75% off.

Also on sale
A Wizard of Earthsea
The Tombs of Atuan
Dragonfly in Amber
🔹The Poppy War by RF Kuang, 16 dragon tags. I liked Babel so I have this on my TBR. I don’t know if there are actual dragons, the tags might be for the Dragon Republic. Does anyone recommend this one?

The Plus Catalog (free for members) also has a lot of books with dragon in the title. I don’t recognize any from our discussions though.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11108 comments I just downloaded Iron Flame. It’s dedicated “To my fellow zebras. Not all strength is physical.” (I love this. It refers to Ehlers Danlos syndrome.)

It’s followed by a LONG list of content warnings. Including different forms of violence, death of people and animals, sex on the page. (Why did I like the first book again?)

You DO need to read Fourth Wing first. It jumps right in to where it left off.

I've just started Tom Lake in audio and was surprised to learn who the reader was Meryl Streep! I'm enjoying it so far.

Robin P | 5797 comments There is a long article in the NY Times today about the author and how she herself suffers from the syndrome she gave her character. She is from a military family, which also fits. Her success is a good underdog story.

Thinking back, I realize that’s what got me interested in the book to begin with. I have a related condition that has gotten much worse, so it was inspiring. Between this and giving advice to Anita about PT, it was a wake up call for me. I need to arrange for regular mom-sitting to get myself moving again.

Amy | 12953 comments Barbra, I’m listening to it to an audio. Just hit 15%.

annapi | 5505 comments I'm 30% into it (Iron Flame) and it's going swimmingly! Just skim past the angst over the sex.

I’m at 68% now. They must have had sex since they stopped talking about it. (I’m back to normal, not noticing sex at all, unlike when I read the first book). She’s always mad at him though which I’m trying to push to background noise. It feels phony and unnecessary.

Fortunately the rest of the plot is interesting, This book really could have ended already, with a quite satisfying ending in the broader plot. It feels like a new book, with a new setting and some new characters. I like the new cross-species effort they’re working on now.

LibraryCin | 11722 comments This may be the 2nd time ever I don't finish a book for the tag. I am almost done what was meant to be my book, but no dragons in sight! I think I noticed they were mentioned once, but nothing. Booooo...

annapi | 5505 comments What book is that, Cindy?

I read The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents by Terry Pratchett.

I'm guessing someone tagged it dragons simply because it's Terry Pratchett?

LibraryCin | 11722 comments ... If I have time, I'm going to try something different:
The Magician King by Lev Grossman

But I'm not sure if I'll actually have time.

Ratfink thinks I should read this......and i do tend to like Terry Pratchett.

LibraryCin | 11722 comments I found one that I might use. It's not really dragons, but a gang that call themselves the "Black Dragons". :-)

I think it's a self-published book, so I don't think there are any tags to go by, but if more people read it, I bet there a plenty who would tag it "dragons"!
