Jennifer | 80 comments I always prepare for a readathon with one or more trips to the library. My city of 100,000 has a library system with 4 branches, and is connected to a statewide network, so I have access to an enormous number of books in multiple formats.
Do you live somewhere with a great library? What do you love about it?

Dee (austhokie) | 127 comments l love my library - my county has 3 branches (2 of which are within 5 miles of my house) and its connected to a consortium of 10 other libraries (so 13 total) - rarely can i not get something that I want.

I also use the military morale/welfare and recreation (MWR) library quite a bit for ebooks/audiobooks - i just discovered this a few years ago and its letter know, so that helps

My employer (a university) also has a libby account - although its very sparse, but good for research type stuff

Cathy (cathepsut) | 578 comments I‘m in Germany, libraries here are not so interconnected. I live in a small town with an equally small library and with very few books that I really want to read. I got a library card from the next town over. That library has a libby account, which gives me some pretty good choices. And today, instead of actually reading, I went to have a look at this very modern library in Stuttgart…

Looks great, but it‘s to far to go there on a whim. I am pretty happy with my current libby access.

Isn't it amazing how much digital books (both text and audio) have opened up access for everyone? Enjoy using Libby. I know I do.

That military resource sounds great! I was a military wife in the 1980s and would have loved it, as the place we were stationed for the longest had a very limited collection.

We have several branch libraries in my mid-sized city. We do have access to interlibrary loans. Some cites do not charge for that service. Ours does.

We also have several academic libraries as we have a large multi-campus communitt.college and a state university here. For an annual fee, the local public can borrow books for 2 weeks--no renewals.

Sonya | 18 comments I love the programs my library runs and they are fine free!

Christy Collins | 39 comments I started a new job 6 months ago near a quite new library which I make good use of. I was sick this week though so didn’t go to work and so also didn’t get to the library as I usually would. The good part about that is I’m getting through some books on my own bookshelves that I’ve been meaning to read. But generally I’m a huge fan of libraries and so grateful for the ones I have access to.

Vicki Willis | 510 comments I used to use the library a lot pre-covid and would always have a stacks of books from there.
Now, I still use the library, but I only check out audio books and sometimes an E book to use on my kindle.

Ann A (readerann) | 867 comments I have cards to both my county and city libraries, and they're great. Like Vicki, I mostly check out audiobooks and e-books, but I can't resist popping in now and then to check out something random that catches my eye.

Catsalive | 182 comments My council area has a great library with 5 branches. I can reserve a book in any of them & it will be delivered to my nominated branch. For a fee I can borrow from any library in Australia. I am a member of 5 different council area libraries & can join nearly any library in NSW for free.
