The colors for the November 2023 color challenge are rust or gold. Looking forward to seeing your picks!

PS I absolutely cannot believe it's November already.

The Dickens and Christie series looks like one I need to add to my tbr shelf.

You have to watch Jackie. She'll sneak books onto your TBR like that a lot, Bonnie.

Joy, as a favor to us all, can you please pick less interesting-sounding books? :-)

message 15: by Joy D (new)

Joy D | 1289 comments Will try to do better in the future. :-)

message 16: by Rhonda (new)

Rhonda | 177 comments I picked a shorter book this month as I'm still reading 1 for last month. It fits both colors!! The Wet Nurse's Tale A Novel by Erica Eisdorfer

Finished (skim read a lot) of the Winter of the Witch. This is the last of a trilogy I have really enjoyed but this one seemed to drag for me. It felt more like real/sad/dark Russian history more than the fantasy side I enjoyed in the first books.

I get that, Bonnie -- Russian-style literature is something you really have to be in the mood for.

Joy D | 1289 comments Finished my rust/gold cover for November:
Journey of Crazy Horse A Lakota History by Joseph M. Marshall III
The Journey of Crazy Horse: A Lakota History by Joseph M. Marshall III - 4* - My Review

message 20: by Rhonda (new)

Rhonda | 177 comments Finished The Wet Nurse's Tale by Erica Eisdorfer . The first part was 2 stars, the last third was quite good and would be 4 stars, so overall I gave it 3 stars.

It is an odd book told in first person, and that person is rather crass. However, it fit the character and it's time period.

Laurel Bradshaw (llawryf) | 617 comments Just got my book ... The Weaver and the Witch Queen by Genevieve Gornichec The Weaver and the Witch Queen which has both gold and rust. I need to finish another book before I start it though...

Finished The Goblin Emperor and it was really good. Good story and characters, interesting world anyway. The names and name structures were really hard and so many of them. I basically gave up trying to figure out who was who except the main characters.

Heh, sounds almost like Tolstoy wrote a fantasy! I had to use the same strategy when I read Anna Karenina and I’ve heard that War and Peace has even more.

long long ago when I was doing the Oprah Bookclub with some friends she use to put printable bookmarks on her site with character lists for the harder books she did.
