nami (namihs) | 18 comments frankly speaking, it is not. the first wasn't too bad, but the whole series is just...awful. The main girl is a terrible person. She's whiney and throws tantrums whenever things don't go her way.The main love interest is well.....boring. The only interesting character is the villain, who also turns our pretty boring as the series progresses. The series doesn't need THAT many books. The plot is stretched out to fit 5 books, which means there isn't much happening in the sequels. There are a lot of repetitive events that occur throughout the series as well. Also, the author changes the personality of her characters whenever she feels like it. Trust me, there are better books out there. This series is a waste of time

Kaitlyn (kaitlyneal) | 36 comments I’d argue to say it is, IF you don’t go in with it expecting an amazing fantasy read. I think BookTok has an issue with recommending books to thousands, then those consumers are let down when it’s not what they built in their heads. Red Queen is YA for a REASON. It’s geared to a younger audience that maybe doesn’t pick up on all the issues an adult or advanced reader would.

I read it right when I first got into fantasy and enjoyed it. Yes, five books definitely could’ve fit into four. But I LOVED war storm of all the books, and it got me into her other series, Realm Breaker, which I have enjoyed much more.

Not every book is for every person, but I say at least give the first one a shot and see what you think!

Chloé 🧚‍♀️ | 38 comments I’m currently reading this series myself. While it’s not GREAT like everyone one TikTok has been saying, I agree with what has been written above, it’s a YA fantasy.
The first book was okay, the second definitely dragged. I’m currently on the third, which I’m actually enjoying a lot more than the other two.
Reading is so subjective to the individual so I’d say give the first book a try and see if you like it ☺️
