Chuck22 | 5 comments I think around 2015 I had Amazon's kindle Unlimited and was reading a LOT of books. The one I'm looking for described it's self as a different kind of LGBT story, and it was. The LGBT part was a fairly small part of it. It was mostly sci-fi. Making a teleporter which also does time travel. These two boys meet near the end of high school. One was adopted after being found lost in a forest and put in a mental hospital because he thought he came from the future where it was illegal for McDonalds to salt the fries. When he agreed with the hospital that he probably wasn't from the future, they let him out. The couple start dating but also inventing a teleporter that I'm pretty sure was called a Jump Box run on new high power generators. They get the money to build it from a lottery ticket that was on future kid's fridge in the future. He said the numbers from that ticket when they were deciding when they were going to buy a lottery ticket. It was just enough money to make and test the teleporter. It works and they get rich off it but stay involved in the programing of it when they let a company make it for them. They get married and adopt a baby that has the same hair (red maybe) and eyes as the kid who thought he was from the future. When the adopted baby becomes a teenager, they have a fight about letting his birthday guests go home using their JumpBox. The couple had completely retired from the business and the company making and updating the JumpBoxes made an update that removed some of the code that as far as they knew was just using a lot of power. It was actually keeping the JumpBoxes from sending people to random times. Not knowing this, the teenager storms off and sneaks into the lab at home that has a JumpBox and uses it. The older version of himself was running the new update to see if there was a way to get people back or find out when they were sent to. There isn't. He finally admits to his partner what happened and there is no point telling the police the kid is lost.

" You can get little sachets of salt on the side, but they don't salt your fries for you. It's illegal."
