Heavy rain forecast here which will spoil many Remembrance Day ceremonies I should think. Scuttled round early on walk, many others, mainly dog walkers, doing the same.

Evening all, woke up about 3am needing the loo, but managed to get back to sleep till 7ish, so nearly 9 hours, though still a bit drained so tried to have a relaxing day. Had a little bit of housework, had late breakfast then went out for milk after the rememberance parade. Bumped into Malachi and his owner, told her about Lucy so ended up in tears, we had a chat for a while till it started raining, then we walked home. Treated myself to a book and nail varnishes that were more expensive than I'd normally pay with my birthday voucher, then had a bath with a bath bomb i got given for my birthday and tried some of my new nail varnishes.
Evening all, another rubbish night sleep. Luckily not too much stuff after being off on Fri. Manager had a couple of meetings this morning, then in my 121 this afternoon turned out they were to let management know we are struggling and they are trying to do something about it, which makes me feel better. Nice word game lunch. Hectic after work though, needed toilet roll, petrol and my prescription, tried to finish on time, but got chatting to people. Did kind of manage everything though, just the chemist didn't have my prescription ready so have to go back tomorrow. Got some bargains from garage though. Felt a bit unwell when i got home, so took some paracetamol.
The Veteran's Day ceremony is going on right below my window. My husband, who was drafted out of grad school at the height of the Vietnam war, is down there.I don't have the energy - as usual.
Evening all, another rubbish night sleep. Had dentist at 9.30, final appointment for my crown, feels quite odd after so long without a full tooth there. Not too manic at work, managed to clear slme stuff that made me feel better and team leader gave me a compliment and assured me they are trying to help. Went to chemist after work but seems there is an issue with my prescription, its something a chemist can dispense, but have to go back tomorrow lunch! Girls are barely coming in my room now, attraction must have worn off, and i go downstairs in the middle of the night most nights snd they are pretty much always in their room, i sometimes feel sad they aren't getting to enjoy things like sitting on the sofa, but at least they choose to be in their room
Evening all, slept through till 5.30ish, but still less than 7 hours sleep. Manager seemed to be in meetings most of the day, morning seemed one of those days where you barely stop but nothing to show for it, then afternoon got better and happy with the numbers, even though it meant a late finish. Went to chemist at lunch, unfortunately he only had 2 months of the medication i needed, so have to go back another time for the other 4 months, but can't face going back tomorrow! Treated myself to a decaf gingerbread mocha on the way home. Got an email from PetPlan this afternoon about another claim for treatment from Feb and euthanasia costs, just not cremation so that will be here within 7 days. Then an email from home insurance, that is going down by £7 a month!
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "Got an email from PetPlan..."The paperwork is endless even when digital!
We have rain! For the second or third time this Fall, I've woken to wet streets and drops dripping from the underside of the balcony railing.
Water - and water rights - are particularly problematic in states like California with good soil and lots of sunshine for growing, but long dry periods when crops have to be irrigated.
In exchange for an almost endless succession of beautiful temperate days, we worry about getting enough water from the mountains, and enough snow in the winter to carry us through.
Evening all, apparently slept better but doesn't feel it. Manager was in till 2.30, but had a few things to do, so was pretty much just me, emails topped 100, which wasnt good. Just remembered i forgot to do something on my lunch break. Went to shops after work, third sandwich of the week for less than 70p, was considering treating myself to lunch tomorrow as pay day, but can't resist a bargain!Hope the rain helps Alicia, I'd like to offer some of ours, but reservoirs are still low
Sounds stressful, Desley! It kills me when I think of all the fresh water (not salty) that goes down the rivers and out to sea before it can be used, say, for crops and drinking water and the ponds and lakes that need replenishing.
And I don't think it's going to be feasible for a long time to send ships of the stuff to places that need it. Not enough.
Heavy rain overnight. The large reservoirs here are mainly nearly full, I believe. The prevailing wind direction for Britain is from the south west, so here in Devon in the southwest there is often rain.
Evening all, tracker shows i was awake 4 times during the night! Stormy weather here and some roadworks so was sat in traffic this morning. Manager was in meetings pretty much all day so just me, loads of urgent things came in so was very busy but numbers don't look like i did much, even though I finished 45 mins late. Was too wet and windy to consider going to shops. Am off on Mon, so at least a long weekend
It rained all day and never got light enough for the automatic lights to stay off when I walked past them in the kitchen. On the plus side, a good day for working on my writing :)
Rained all day here yesterday too, and it was very windy with a -2 windchill. Snow further north! Last Friday I was out working in my garden in a tee shirt
Misty and raining here this morning. Couldn't see the far coast from the Downs but the two nearby beaches were very distinct.
Evening all, rubbish night sleep and had to be up early, we were going to Skipton as customers at a craft fair. Only seem to have come home with stuff gor myself, i treated myself to a scarf and ring with the money from PetPlan. We couldn't get a seat, so didn't have any lunch, was dropped off at coop for milk, but no bargains so decided to go to cafe and get a jacket potato, i did think £10 was expensive for that and a drink, but good size portion and came with salad and coleslaw, she will do it without the drink if i want it for tea. Had thought yo fo sone housework but was too stiff, so couldn't even do all the washing up. Used my new foot set, was nice soaking my feet, did a face mask too. Very tired now, so having an early night as up early again tomorrow.
The latest storm hasn't left us with a lot of rain, we were on the edge of that. So we had drizzle, but drizzle blow in on a gale force wind! Not a lot of fun.
It has definitely turned colder. For two days last week I was working outside in shirt sleeves
Evening all, slept through till 4.30, gave up trying to get back to sleep at 5.30 so made a cup of tea and watched TV, got back to sleep just after 6,but alarm went off at 6.45. Coco was funny when i got up, she came in my room, sat on the rug looking ate for a bit then left, guessing she was wondering why I'd not fed them. I left their door open while showered, which I've not done before, Chanel sat on the landing when I went to dry my fringe, i thought she'd run at the hairdryer but she seemed curious, so i put it on the floor and she sniffed it, jumped, then came back for another sniff. Good craft fair, our crafter friend who moved came back, was nice to see her, we sat next to our friend who has Geoff, so plenty of cuddles from him, took a decent amount. I decided as it was a Christmas fair gor a cat charity, I'd see if i could get a little ornament, they had a little memorial section, so got something. I also won a cat ornament on the tombola! Crafter friend saw a Christmas tree ornament that was purple and said 'Lucy' on it, so she got it for me. Bought a cute rucksack style bag, then won a Lindt set on the raffle, think it has 8 boxes in it, will be giving some as presents. Went to coop, but no bargains, then went to Sainsbury's, got something for tea, breakfast and some fruit, and they had the Terry's Chocolate Orange Baileys back in, so treated myself, may also have bought some nail varnishes and books too! Coco has just come and looked at me, guessing shes expecting supper!
Evening all, slept through till 5.30ish, gave up trying to get back to sleep at 6.30ish. Had a lazy start to the day, did a bit of housework before going doing some food shopping. Neighbour was out when I got back so i parked a bit further back, she knocked on to ask me to pull forward, she'd parked behind with no problems so i refused, she kept talking so i just shut the door! She then shouted through the door that she always knew I was a selfish bitch! Rang ratty Neighbour to see if she'd heard as she'd shouted hello through the window when i pulled up, but she'd gone in the kitchen, ended up on the phone for over an hour! Managed to do a bit more housework while talking, then had a nice bath, it was bed change so feels nice to be in new pj's in a freshly made bed, feel quite relaxed Read your blog post MT, hope McCat is OK
Goodness! You won't be speaking to that neighbor for a long while if she can't be civil over a parking spot! We're having a bit more rain - the street was wet again this morning - but I think it's trying to wash Los Angeles into the Pacific.
Whatever happened to 'moderation in all things'?
Sorry to hear about neighbour, Desley. People can be so unpleasant particularly where cars are concerned.
Evening all, rubbish night sleep. Manager clearly had a chaotic day on her own, seems we don't have help anymore. We had a change in how things are saved yesterday so couldn't do certain things until mid afternoon, then I had some mindfulness training this afternoon and manager finished early. I'd forgotten to get yogurts when I went shopping yesterday so popped to Lidl on the way home. Neighbour had pulled forward while i was at work!Forgot to say, i tried to order some new work boots last week but there was an issue with the site, went to order them yesterday and one pair were half price!
This is the neighbour i no longer speak to!
Evening all, another rubbish night sleep. Manager had to sort out some invoices, so i was pretty much on my own, and had some urgent stuff to deal with, so numbers didn't look any better, but her and a senior manager tried reassuring me that I'm doing a good job. The light bulb in my room started flickering the other day, got round to swapping it at lunch, no idea what i found in the cupboard but its awful! Went to coop after work and got some bargains, then decided to get chippy for tea
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "This is the neighbour i no longer speak to..."I can see why you don't!
Congrats on the boots - that is always so satisfying.
Evening all, rubbish night sleep (getting fed up of typing that, at least I'm getting used to working on less than 7 hours sleep!). Was -3 when I got in my car to go to work. I had training 10-12 in a building a 10 min walk away, then we had an event at another building a 10 min walk (opposite direction!) 1-3, but had to leave at 12.30, so that was rather tight! We had a bake sale and tombola at lunch that i just got to, won a box of Thornton chocolate, going to put them away in case i need an emergency present! Think it was 3.30 when i got back and put everything away, manager had finished at 2.30, so i had some urgent stuff to deal eith, then my brain was too mashed for the last half hour so did some easy stuff just to try and get numbers down, and finished on time, though as i didn't get a proper lunch, did over 30 mins extra. Checked m and s for bargains but nothing, should have gone to b and m, but couldn't be bothered. Did check out shops for bargains but not much. Have done over 9k steps. Ratty Neighbour took a parcel in for me, so had to collect it and got invited in, didn't stay too long. Coco has been in my room a few times this evening, think the last two times have been asking for supper! She did come quite far in the room once, but then Chanel came in and spooked her.
Son is here from the US for the Thanksgiving holiday so went for my walk with him this morning. Sunny but cold.
Evening all, was up for a bit during the night, so tired today. Was -3 when I got in the car, -4 when I got to work! Decided to focus on one category of our emails today, there were 54 when i started, between duplicates and processing, i must have cleared 10, but ended the day on 49, not sure how that works! We had an interesting team meeting, plus i had some urgent stuff come in, so full on day. Had picked big Asda for my boots, so got some stuff while i was there, went a bit OTT on seasonal food as might not go back this year.
Carol wrote: "Son is here from the US for the Thanksgiving holiday so went for my walk with him this morning. Sunny but cold."Have a great visit!
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "went a bit OTT on seasonal food as might not go back this year...."An Indian friend of mine does that in Aldi. Every year they seem to have a range of Indian foods in which is only on the shelves for less than a month. Once she spots them, she stocks up :-)
Evening all, up in the middle of the night again, struggled to get back to sleep even though I felt tired. Luckily i didn't have much urgent stuff, so have done a bit of housework and chilled, has rained pretty much all day, so went to shops just to get some fresh air, no bargains
Evening all, actually slept through till 6.30, though still tired. Didn't have to leave for craft fair till 10.15, A picked me up as it was raining heavily. We've done this venue before and its hit and miss, but we had 2 sales in the first 10 mins, and did well. We were next to our crafter friend with the french bulldogs and the puppy was happy to sit on my knee a couple of times. Won a gin glass on the normal tombola and a large bar of chocolate on the chocolate tombola, been put on the present pile. Got a mince pie crumble which was very nice. Started hailstoning as we were leaving and quite heavy rain on the way back, popped in Sainsbury's for milk. Have had a nice bath and tried a new nail varnish.v
Evening all, up in the middle of the night again. Had my last probation meeting this morning and have passed, though angry about how drawn out its been. Another manic day, at one point for every email i was clearing, 3 more came in, so was pleased when there was only 3 more at the end of the day than when I started. Nice word game lunch, starting to include a new colleague. Very drained by end of day so couldn't be bothered to go to b and m, or shops.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "there was only 3 more at the end of the day than when I started..."Reminds me of the episode of I Love Lucy where she and Ethel are working at a candy factory where the conveyor belt with the chocolates starts speeding up, and the two ladies struggle to keep up with the incoming chocolates! Did you get ILL in the UK? Or was it too American in its comedy?
My mother used to do an impression of Lucy that was spot on.
Sometimes it seems you're running, like the Red Queen in Through the Looking Glass, as fast as you can just to not get further behind! Busy job you have.
Evening all, rubbish night sleep. Day started off well, got things ticked off my to do list, then i had to leave voicemails for people and they all rang back late on so ended up with 5 part done things. Had a meeting with one of the senior managers who has offered to help, the task we gave her doesn't really help with numbers. One of the calls i took did tell me i was brilliant, which was really welcome. Nice word game lunch and went to new coffee shop, had a white hot choc with black forest syrup- they do a 'mocha' which is a latte with chocolate syrup, that sounds nice too, looking forward to working through their menu. Couldn't be bothered going to b and m, did pop to Super drug for more nail varnish remover, bought a new matte top coat as i can't find mine, I'll probably find it now!
Just the right bit of praise from the right people at the right time - so satisfying! You work so hard - and someone notices, cares, and tells you about it. Brilliant. Lovely.
I remember I love Lucy but it'll be over 50 years ago. I remember the candy factoryGood news on the Probation, Desley
Evening all, tried going to bed a bit earlier, then was wide awake at 2am, so watched some TV and hot a bit more sleep. Brain is certainly struggling, getting things wrong i really should get right. At least not much urgent stuff today, so did get some of the backlog sorted, someone who helped a bit last year has offered to help, just need to spend spme time with her on Tue showing her. Nice word game lunch with old colleague, and she made me finish on time so we could walk to the cars together. Nipped to b and m after work, got more than i planned, though not the shampoo I wanted, then dropped my sisters wax melt advent calendar off. Amazon randomly left my parcels in a neighbours parcel box, luckily we speak! Do need to complain though, its not down as my safe space.
Carol wrote: "Happy Thanksgiving Alicia and anyone else here who is American."Thank you - had turkey, French onion soup, and a mushroom/greenbean casserole - where we usually eat dinner, in front of the TV.
Made some progress on the last novel in my mainstream trilogy, Pride's Children: LIMBO (Review copies of the first two, PURGATORY and NETHERWORLD available for anyone who will CONSIDER writing a review (keeps Amazon happy, and I don't nag about the review.))
Good day except for the pain bit. Have new photo of the granddaughter trying her first 'real' food - sweet potato, which she is gumming and looking interested about. You forget how much babies change in their first year!
Evening all, better day at work, not much urgent stuff and pretty much everyone answered the phone so got to clear things and not end up with everyone ringing at once! Stopped raining at lunch so went to coffee shop and got a mince pie macchiato, was lovely. Went to shops after work and got bargains, as i was leaving coop i bumped into the old neighbours with the husky type dog, they have moved back and luckily the house was still available, he recognised me and refused to mive till he got a fuss! Oh yes, Happy thanksgiving Alicia
Approaching the home stretch to Xmas. Many of the little shops here now have Xmas decorations and although it's a bit early I like the snowy scenes and bright baubles. I keep my Xmas angel, made by my daughter when she was six, on a window sill all the year round in any case and have already received my first Xmas card so am beginning to feel in a festive mood and might put up my little artificial tree.
Evening all, craft fair in a church today, i took a cushion with me this time as the pews are uncomfortable! Bought a cup for work from a stall raising money for an animal charity, won a chocolate orange on the tombola and then a mini pamper hamper on the raffle, i might use some of the things but put to one side for now, to either gift or use as a raffle prize. Was naughty and gave into a black Friday sale and bought more nail varnishes, and i get a free one, that was a nice bonus! They let us pack up early as it was so quiet, probably due to the weather, so managed to get round to the Christmas light switch on and helped the rescue Lucy was from for an hour (and had to tell them about Lucy, managed to hold it together), then had to ho as feet were stiffening up and i needed a drink, popped in shops for bargains on way back. As feet were sore, i did a foot soak after tea, which had the added bonus of helping me warm up. I have ordered a new foot set and hand creams from Avon too. Very tired now. Oh, both girls came to investigate this morning when i had the hairdryer on, so they got a treat each. Coco seems to be getting more playful
Evening all, slept through till 6ish, which is impressive, though still been quite tired. Noticed this morning there were offers on add on channels, subscribed to 2 that were half price and Noticed 2 i already pay for where on offer so thought I'd see if i could cancel and resubscribe, they offered me the discounted price without cancelling. So I'm paying for 2 extra channels and saving money! I picked some urgent chores but have managed to find time to relax too. Popped to shops for bargains, coop had a 1kg bag of carrots for 21p, i only wanted a couple so bought it and gave ratty Neighbour the rest. Got a bit of a yucky throat, hope that doesn't develop into anything.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "Evening all, slept through till 6ish, which is impressive, though still been quite tired. Well done - enjoy.
Hope your memories of Lucy are comforting - it's hard having to tell other people.
Evening all, woke up at 5.30 with a sore throat and headache, so took some paracetamol. Got Coco and Chanel to take food from my hand last night, Coco even licked it after. Glad i was WFH today, been miserable all day, kind of stayed dry long enough at lunch for me to pick something up from A and get my prescription from the other week. Bit frustrating day with very few people answering my calls this morning. Wanted to make a korma for tea tonight and lunch tomorrow, but there was no korma sauce in the cupboard, just sweet and sour, so made that. Also pulled my Christmas burner out of the wardrobe (put the rest back!) so i could use it for the wax melt advent calendar i found
Evening all, was up at 2am coughing, then struggled to get back to sleep. Been very snotty and sore throat today. A colleague was leaving today, so a bit bittersweet. Afternoon was manic, a new colleague asked to shadow me, and got to watch me just be disturbed multiple times by phone calls, though at least one person called me a diamond. There were some roadworks so took nearly an hour to get home, popped in Lidl as i needed a couple of things, but forgot one of the things I went for!
Sounds like a few fine quiet days would help. Looks like you're getting more stress than you need :-(
Evening all, rubbish night sleep but impressed how well i managed on 5.5 hours sleep! Still full of a cold so glad i was WFH. Not sure how, one set of figures is down, but the other is up. At least less urgent stuff and interruptions. Went to coffee shop for another mince pie macchiato at lunch. However, didn't think to get milk while out, so had to go back out after work. Not sure I understand quiet days Jim!
