Also salt and pepper chips are a bit variable. My daughter has one place she'll get them because they're right for her, but never bothers anywhere else

AFTER the appointment - or not at all? Seems rather cavalier to do such a big change in your life over the phone!
I never meant to stop driving when we moved to California - drove up until the last day in New Jersey - and I have now been since Aug. 2018 without a car. I hate it. But obviously didn't need it?
I used to hop in the car and do things - now I rarely leave my office. Need to work on that.

Just for the appointment Alicia, that hospital is a distance away so didn't want to drive to find out it would affect my tests.

Good thing you asked - would have been inconvenient to discover it after they dilated your eyes, or whatever, and you couldn't drive home PLUS had to go back and get the car!
I survived my annual cardiologist visit - excellent BP with no drugs - don't have to see her for another year. Nothing to worry about on the scans from last week. Glad to be done with those - I always worry they'll find something that will take a long time to fix. She even looked at my steps data from the Apple watch (nothing like your stellar numbers, Desley, but a lot for someone like me).

Glad cardiologist app went well Alicia, and good you had some step data, its good to know how much you do when you don't feel you've done much

I think a lot of chemists will offer a free blood pressure check. Might be worth getting one as a second opinion to make sure your monitor is OK? (and vice versa)

I didn't know that. Thanks, Jim.

Sounds like real progress - glad to hear she's eating better. It is such a worry when pets don't.

Mind you for sheer determined enthusiasm, we went for a walk yesterday and a friend's dog finished the day with us in the cafe, and got a dog ice cream.
Nothing, but nothing, was going to be left inside that pot by the time he'd finished :-)

Met a Russian Black Terrier yesterday (it's basically a daily dog parade down at the harbour). Now that's a big dog! Couldn't believe it when her owner told me she was a terrier - they were apparently bred by the Russian military in the 40s and 50s. She liked me (I'm not a dog person really) and kept coming up and leaning her not insubstantial weight against me.

Ooh, the new cafe do dog ice cream, Lucy hasn't been impressed with my yoghurt choices, but might get her a dog ice and see what she thinks

Domesticated Border Collie :-)

Well spotted Jim - I'm off out to buy myself a copy!

Ooh, look at you getting in the newspaper R! Well done

Thanks Carol! I use acrylics, which can be a challenge outdoors as they dry so quickly :)

We had to get home along the M6, but delayed leaving by an hour and whilst there were holdups on the traffic warnings, by the time we got to them, they'd evaporated so we had a good trip :-)

Dave day sounds interesting Jim!

It had been a week, and we hadn't heard much in the way of details - they had to stay a couple of days for the baby, just in case, but everything is fine, and now they have to figure out how to get sleep, as she seems to be nocturnal.
Glad I'm not back in those days! First for both sides of the family, and a late baby already (we did the same thing to our parents, so we really can't complain, can we?).
Made for a long week, but the smiles are worth it.

Technology is wonderful. I am so grateful to be able to see my far-flung family with it.

Because it happens 'in town' and we're out of town, and also it happens along the A590 (and we're down along the coast) it hasn't really impinged on us. This year I noticed it because it was a moving traffic phenomena that we timed our journey to avoid :-)
Even out of town, we could here the concert in the town centre, if we went outside

I have always appreciated that Zoom gave us free 40 min. video calls - very kind of them. I also have Facetime on my iPhone and Mac Air, so it is almost as good as being able to visit (especially for someone who is chronically ill as I am - travel is a nightmare).

Sorry Alicia, forgot to say congratulations

Not at all - thanks! It's just I didn't think we were getting grandchildren - and then they surprised us and their siblings a few months ago. I like that kind of surprises.
I don't get out much, so don't usually have much interesting stuff to share. If the researchers ever find a cure, I have a lot of catching up to do. Maybe even traveling, and seeing in person some of the wildlife walks you've written about. Meanwhile, there are photos and zoom.

The doctor is happy to have me play with the dosage. I tried 1/2 tablet every other day, but the variation in the hoped-for pain relief was too extreme; now I'm trying 1/4 tablet every day. Seems to be working.
Legs still swollen - can't really tell if that part's a bit better or not. I'll give it a few weeks - the extra pain relief is very welcome.
My brain feels stuffed with cotton, though - hope that goes away. It's hard to write fiction with it in this condition.

On another front, my assistant transplanted our 5ft coffee plant from its small original container to a much bigger one. Have to give her credit - we talked about my suggestions, but she basically did the whole job herself. Poor thing was SO root-bound.
She will be here one more week, and then go home for summer vacation - I'll have to do my own stuff until mid-September. Not looking forward to it - she's a real gem.
