Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I always thought that desserts go into a separate compartment. The pudding stomach.

Been very busy lately! Mother has much improved after her stroke so that is a lot less stress and not so many visits, although husband is now waiting for a date to go into hospital for an op.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, nice sunny day, office alternated between being cool and stuffy though! Good day at work, little urgent stuff coming in, so was able to catch up and some of the people I've been trying to get hold of the last couple of weeks were in, so got some of the older stuff off the list, so felt very productive and numbers are looking much better, though did chuckle when colleague was saying it was a struggle to keep the e-mails at 60, we've spent weeks struggling to get them to 80! Did a bit of food shopping on the way home, annoyingly this week I want stuff from both Aldi and Lidl, so one tonight and one tomorrow.

Love the logic Jim. I know a lot of people who talk about pudding stomach, seems I wasn't born with one, when I went out for family meals, I had to have a smaller main so I could have dessert as my granddad was only allowed if someone else was - he preferred meals with my sister in law who has a pudding stomach. Glad your mother is improving, hopefully hubby's op isn't too long a wait and goes well R.

Nice to see she's improving, it's better for everybody. Hope your husband's op comes round soon

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening all, another nice day, though more overcast than yesterday. Foot wasn't great today, not sure if it's because yesterday and today I've started doing some of the exercises as I thought it was doing well, I only had cold and flu tablets in my work handbag, so couldn't wait to get home, take some decent painkillers and put my foot brace on, much better now. Did have an interesting experience last night, I put my new analgesic cream on the base of my spine, I hadn't realised how tender that was till I tried rubbing cream in it, so am going to ask the rheumatologist for a face to face consultation and let someone prod me to see, I'm currently classed as 1 tender joint and 1 swollen joint, but that clearly isn't right, I just mustn't prod myself enough! Another good day at work, got numbers down lots and still got an hour for lunch and finished on time. Did do a bit of food shopping on the way home, hopefully I didn't forget anything from Lidl (got the cat treats anyway, so most important thing sorted!)

Must be op season. Mine is waiting for a second attempt by the roto-rooter cardiac team - the first one failed (a couple of months ago), but they perforated something and wanted to wait until it would be completely healed before trying again.

Aug. 30 - It's scary. The artery they're cleaning out has been bypassed for 26 years. Apparently, they keep inventing cardiac procedures - they didn't even have stents well developed when he had a quadruple bypass all those years ago - but I worry what might have been happening inside something blocked that long - and of course he can't wait to have it cleared, and is hoping for better oxygen delivery.

This getting older thing is taxing.

And I'm not doing all the things I need until he's finished with his - mine have long healing times. ONE of us has to be functional!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, another nice day. One of my colleagues was out for a few hours for an app, but we managed to keep on top of things, e-mails are down to 42, not quite sure how we've halved them, but we have :-) and I've been getting longer lunches and finishing on time. Other numbers are creeping up slightly though, shame as we got those in single figures for the first time in months. Walked to the canal and read for a bit after work, think that is helping my mood, even if I can't do the walk I want and that short walk hurts.

Fingers crossed for hubby's op Alicia, hope the recovery is speedy then you can get some of the things you need done.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Me, too. Thanks, Desley.

Hope your foot gets the PERMANENT attention it needs - seems like you've been dealing with it for a long time, which IS a shame because you like to walk and make a point of getting the exercise.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, was surprised to be woken up at 5am by rain! Turned nice about 10am and got really warm. Not a bad day at work. Rang podiatry at lunch, that was a very interesting conversation. Started with 'you need bio mechanics, but there is a long waiting list for that'. Said that was fine, but if she could give me an idea of the wait so I could tell the physio that has referred me next week. She said 6-8 weeks, then asked if I was in pain, which I said yes to (felt like saying obviously, I'm not going to physio for fun!) and then she magically found me an appointment next Thu, and had a choice of times! Unfortunately I didn't realise that was when my next 121 was booked, but manager rearranged it for me before I had chance to apologise. Was vegan friend's birthday today, so posted her a bar of chocolate from the cats (she doesn't like me buying her things, but will accept a bar of chocolate from the cats!), had a nice walk round, walked past one street and there were three dogs out, one is a big fluffy thing that is such a softy, he first sat on my foot, then laid down so I could stroke his belly. Then walked round the corner, saw a cute cat on a fence, offered it a stroke, then the dog that was in the garden went mad wanting a fuss! Friend lives near the canal, so went there after posting present and sat on the bench reading for a bit. Got some nice bargains from Sainsbury's too. Was reading while eating my tea, had the door open for Lucy, just saw a tabby shape walk in and to the food, so just said hello, then when I put my book down and stood up realised it was neighbours cat (ironically he's full tabby, thinner and darker than Lucy!), so moved her food, glad I hadn't put her medicine in it, or might have had to speak to neighbour.

Thanks Alicia, it has been going on since March/April! It is better than it was though, but think some of the exercises are making it worse, not better.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Pain takes a lot of energy to deal with - energy that could be much better used elsewhere.

Hope the biomechanics help - it's nice they could find you something sooner rather than later.

I could probably benefit from some things, but they are not designed for people with very little energy, and just the thought of getting there and back and recovering is too daunting.

I've promised myself that IF and WHEN the long covid researchers find something we other post-viral patients can benefit from, one of my first priorities will be getting back to fit. I miss the walking, hiking and yoga. I used to be able to stand on my head quite comfortably.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, day started off OK, just me and full time colleague in, manager was on leave, then around 11am, she told me that she was finishing about 2pm, so I was manning the fort by myself for the last couple of hours. Luckily nothing much major came in, got numbers down and finished on time. Went to coffee shop at lunch and got an identical drink to the one on Tue, was 50p cheaper, and nicer. Was roasting at lunch, but by the time I finished it was cooler and breezy, so didn't read at canal, just went for bargains and came home. Started raining about 20 mins ago, and still very windy, so made the rain look worse.

Yes, that is very true Alicia. I do hope they find something that can help people like you.

Jim | 21809 comments Yes the afternoon cooled down and a wet evening. Nice cool night :-)

Had a frappe on Wednesday at Costa. Sort of like a really cold mocha as it had both chocolate, coffee and salted caramel. Rather good actually :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Ooh, look at you trying out frappe in Costa Jim! Glad you enjoyed it, I found it too cold for me, irritated my asthma.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments First (of 2) Diet Coke of the day going down the hatch. Second must be before 3pm or no sleep that night. That's my only caffeine source, my last little indulgence, and I'm not giving it up - or extending it.

Can't stand coffee or tea, but I know all you other, more normal, people like it. Mother always said I'd learn to - never did.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening all, another nice day today. Did a halfhearted attempt at hoovering and sweeping while it was still fairly cool, then showered, put a washload on, went to take my plastic to co-op and look for bargains, saw the fluffy dog again, couldn't quite hear what his owner said but he's a Samoyed cross. Then bumped into G on the way back, she did ask if I wanted to go round for a brew, but I wanted to get my washing out and dry. I have also kind of read a full book (it's a screenplay of Agatha Christies Mousetrap, so not sure it's long enough to be classed as a full book).

I never liked tea or coffee till I was in my 30's Alicia, and even been able to reduce how much sugar I have in them. Never been a fan of Coke (full fat or diet) unless it has amaretto in it, but that is a drink that affects my sleep, so rarely have it.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Funny how these things happen - and how people adjust when the doctor says, "No more," to some little habit (such as caffeinated coffee).

I've given up most of the salt in my diet - food tastes like cardboard. But the salt was giving me swollen ankles which wouldn't go away and did not respond to diuretics. Meals last a total of a couple of hours a day - the ankles bothered me all the time. Choices!

Oh, and the doctor had nothing to do with it - she prescribed two different diuretics, and then wanted me to drink no more than ONE liter of water a day, an impossibility. I figured out on my own how to manage - and drink as much water as I need. Not thrilled about it - but it works.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, had a rubbish night sleep and it was our regular craft fair, had a bit of drama though, the woman who takes her french bulldog had collapsed getting stuff out of the car, so had to go to hospital to get stitches, she did make it back before the end, but others had rallied and set up her stall and help man it, she was incredibly grateful and thought we'd gone above and beyond for her - so glad we are part of that community. Cake man was back too, think he was touched at how warm a welcome he got from everyone, turned out it was a kidney issue he'd had a while and just got to crisis point. A's partner told her my only job was to get to the cake stall before we officially opened to make sure he got some cake, apparently I pick well for him! I was starving today, A treated me to a toasted teacake for breakfast and insisted on paying me for some sweets I'd got which were going to be a treat! I did treat myself to some stuff though, came home with new ring, bracelet and earrings (all from different stalls and all different colours!), I did want a new ring and didn't like the bracelet I wear for fairs, didn't really need the earrings but was drawn to them - ironically I was originally drawn to a darker pair, but when I looked closer, they turned from purple to blue quicker than I liked, so got the lighter pair, then my ring was a mix of the dark purple and blue of the first earrings I'd looked at - it's one of the regulars, so did contemplate asking her to swap, but then figured it didn't matter if they were different shades of purple. We had some new stalls, but also some regulars missing, it was very quiet, we just made our stall fee. Got a reduced pizza and fruit from co-op on way home, Lucy was very happy with pizza and cake!

Glad you found your own solution Alicia.

Jim | 21809 comments I think a lot of surviving in this world is working out your own solutions to medical issues like Alicia did.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, overcast but very humid day. Not a bad day at work, had physio this afternoon, she suggested that if the original two exercises were causing more pain, to try the resistance band first and then start the other two. She let me take a picture of what the ultrasound showed in case podiatry don't have access to it on Thu, so I can show them. I did think of asking whether the arthritis my bunions have caused is different to my auto immune arthritis and she said yes and probably why it doesn't take much to trigger things with that foot and not unusual for it to take months to settle down. I don't normally like physio's, but her speciality is rheumatology, so she seems better than the others I've seen. Not seeing her for a month now as she has a holiday soon.

Oh, absolutely Jim, especially with chronic health conditions where it's often useless seeing a doctor as they just put things down to your condition and you come out just being told to take more of the medication you already have. And then you get told off for ignoring things to see if they'll just resolve by working things out/waiting.

message 819: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Sounds like your physio's useful. But yes whilst I would never advocate ignoring or shunning doctors, I think we have to take some responsibility for trying things that look sensible

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, had a rubbish night sleep, but nice sunny start to the day, had to walk to the office with sunglasses on! Had our team meeting this morning, so that was 1.5 hours sat in a room, then this afternoon our team meeting had been brought forward to 4pm today as big manager wanted to discuss something with us, unfortunately her meeting overrun, so she didn't get to us till 4.35, so didn't finish till 5.20 and was stiffening up after so many meetings, so drove home and only when I went to get some olives to go with tea that I remembered I should have gone to Lidl on the way home! Might have to see what co-ops selection is like and go to Lidl on the way home on Fri (was also supposed to go to Boots for new toothpaste, but suspected that was closed!)

Yes, and sensible enough to accept I stopped doing things when it hurt too much and waited for it to settle down again, and has suggested doing things a different way rather than just pushing what she suggested.

message 821: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Good that they are that sensible

message 822: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments A curious feature of ME/CFS is that 1) doing things is much harder, especially when they go past energy limits, and 2) every time you breach those energy limits, you risk lowering your baseline (ie, getting worse) for the future.

We tell new people DO NOT PUSH yourself past limits - medical personnel who do not know the disease and well-meaning friends all suggest you do more exercise and then increase, and have no idea they're condemning their patients to getting WORSE unless it is done with extreme care, and NEVER pushing.

Our energy-producing mechanism in our cells doesn't work. Staying within your 'energy envelope' is the only solution. And, boy is that slow! Can't wait until the Long Covid researchers figure out how this happens and how to treat/fix it - and hope it applies to me - now that they have a huge cohort of people sick from a SINGLE virus to study. There's a Nobel Prize in it, researchers! Get a move on!

Meanwhile, we ALL have to get through 24 hours every day. Making things worse first may work for certain things (weighlifting comes to mind) where part of the process is breaking down muscles to build them up stronger. These are PROVEN methods. But it's also PROVEN that it doesn't work for ME or LC. I won't bore you with the details - just be aware.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, complete change in weather, we've had rain on and off most of the day. Still feel a bit sore after yesterday, so the housework plan changed. Went to the shops after work, checked bargains in co-op and walked out, got some good bargains in Sainsbury's and realised I was going to look at olives in co-op! Then went to make a cup of tea and there was less milk than I realised, so will have to eek this out till tomorrow!

That is interesting Alicia, I do hope that they can find something that will help

message 825: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Today we're scheduled to have enough excess rain to satisfy and three American states :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments I wish you could too Alicia! I have just told myself off though, I've lost something I'm sure I've washed up, but kitchen isn't that tidy, so mentally said 'when I can be bothered to tidy this, I might find it', then reminded myself it isn't laziness stopping me, it's pain levels affecting how much I can do

message 827: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments I hear you about pain - a pretty constant companion. And I worry that the painkillers I do allow myself may damage organs I need, just to get rid of the painkillers after they do their job.

And then I try to ignore it, after I've done everything I can, because if I focus on it, I get NOTHING done.

If I hadn't already published two-thirds of my mainstream trilogy, I'd probably just give up, and find less stressful things to do. But I've put too much into it already - so I keep trying. I don't know whether my efforts will succeed, but I won't make it easy not to.

Keep working on your foot problems - you get so much out of those walks. I love reading about them and the wildlife, and even the rain.

I don't believe you're lazy! I just know it isn't easy. I'm not lazy, either. Maybe reframe it from 'when I can be bothered to tidy this, I might find it' to 'when I can tolerate cleaning up, I always do, and I'll find it.' After all, 'it' doesn't have feet. Being too hard on yourself isn't a good strategy for improving. And look how much you're getting done at work.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, started off nice, had to put sunglasses on to walk to the train station for my podiatry/bio mechanics app (it's near a train station, which is only 6 mins away and then a few mins walk, couldn't drive there that quickly and I end up parking outside the train station, so same length of walk). He was running late, but was the same bloke I saw last time, he's really nice. He was also really thorough, he read my scan results (apparently one bit was mistranslated), pointed things out on my foot like where the fluid was etc, then made me walk and stand in different places, he said my ankle is turning in when I walk, so said if I could wait, he'd make me some orthotics, which I was fine with, one has a bit of an extra built up bit. I do need some new boots to test them in though. He also suggested one of the exercises physio gave me as he said my calves were really tight. Got back to the station, train should have been in 6 mins, but was delayed, still only had to wait 10 mins though, and nipped into co-op for milk. It started spitting as I was walking home, and hasn't stopped raining since, so didn't go out after work. We seem to have got through plenty at work, so hopefully can go through processes and make sure they are all updated.

Yes, it's certainly a balance between managing symptoms and not creating new ones caused by medication! I feel like having something to focus on does help though. I do need to be kinder to myself, and I do think I need to find a new cleaner.

Jim | 21809 comments I must admit I've been impressed with the podiatrist that I saw

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening all, that was a long day in the office! It's a more relaxed atmosphere though which is nice. Was spitting when I left though, so couldn't peg the washing out, turned out sunny but very windy. Couldn't be bothered sorting out lunch, so went to Boots, decided against that toothpaste, very pricy, but did still have Lucy's prescription in my bag, so asked them to check it, still out of stock. Had my 121 this morning, potentially my last one with manager, though there is still uncertainty about when the move is going to happen and when she is leaving! Nipped to Lidl after work as it's meat free week, wasn't the best selection, but also got a variety of food for Lucy as she's been picky with her food recently. Felt quite sore after though.

I've seen quite a few Jim, and at different levels, don't think I've had an issue with any of them

message 832: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments I only saw one and she was very good and fixed things

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, bit mixed weather wise, was nice when I got up, so put the washing out, but started raining part way to my friends. Luckily dried up, so washing was dry when I got home. She took me round her village's charity shops, I had a £20 note, came home with 1 dress and 6 tops, and had some change, haven't tried anything on yet, but most expensive thing was £3. Then we walked to their park that has a lake in it, there were 2 swans and I know they laid eggs this year, but no sign of any cygnets. I wasn't expecting to be taken there, so didn't have any food, not as much wildlife as mine, seemed to have both moorhens and coots though and more than I'm used to seeing. We then went to the cafe there, and had an ice cream each. Tempted to take my sis and the kids there, think they'd enjoy it. Popped in Tesco on the way home as don't often go there, got some nice things. Also had a letter from HMRC saying I owe them some money and one from the mortgage company saying my payments are changing, they are going down by £1 a month! I am going to ask for an early repayment figure on Mon. Bit sore now, but back rather than foot, foot has stood up to 9.5k steps today

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments Hello

Still working my way through sorting.
The garage is partly done - the stuff that is left in there to be sorted is neatly stacked now.
The little bedroom is empty apart from a chest of drawers which is going in the garage to store tools etc
Next job for that room is to paint and put tiles down instead of the carpet and then shelves for storing craft stuff.
The stairlift was taken out this week.
I have two large bags of books ready to be donated.
Two bags of part used shampoos and lotions etc to dispose of.(nobody wants unsealed items)
Two bags of paper to be shredded
Two walking aids to donate.

My cousin from Australia is visiting and we had a meal out - chicken and chorizo pie very tasty!! We had found some old photo albums while sorting and so have copies of photos of her parents to give my cousin. I also offered her a couple of my mum's watercolour paintings- but can I find where I have put them?
That is something else that I have to find a home for - mum's art supplies. There is a bag of various size cardboard frames(?mounts?) and also some frames including the glass.

Mum's older sister died a couple of weeks ago and her funeral is this week.

I'm also busy stocking the freezer with home made ready meals, pies and soups.
And going to the gym. The zumba instructor is on holiday so we had a replacement class. Very enjoyable but my arm is still aching from waving weights around. I'm hoping it feels better tomorrow for yoga - I already have to skip some of the poses because of my shoulder.

I am still managing to get some reading and listen to audio books to fall asleep to.

And the kittens are keeping me company.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, a lovely sunny day, barely a cloud and wind much reduced, so have done a very half hearted attempt at housework (though did enjoy getting the bedding washed, dried on the line and put back on the bed!) and instead spent some time sat outside reading in the sun, Lucy even joined me most of the day. Feel like I need it, not as drained as I was, and weather is supposed to turn, so can do some housework then.

Good to see you Janet, glad you are getting there with sorting - it's such a shame people won't take unsealed toiletries, so many people go without while we have to throw things away. Hope your arm is up to yoga tomorrow.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, weather complete contrast to yesterday, dull most of the day, but did brighten up a bit. Had a rheumatology consult at 10am so was allowed to work from home, glad as colleague who lives near me commented on the traffic being bad. Consult went well, he has apparently written a letter detailing his findings, but not received it yet. He thinks it is mechanical rather than inflammatory, which apparently is better, as it means my medication is keeping things under control and he said that there could just be some localised inflammation, but was pleased I've seen both physio and podiatry - I did mention my grumble about podiatry only keeping me open for 3 months, he said that is quite low, and they have brought it up previously, but not been able to change it. At least they are aware and being under rheumatology should speed things up, so the woman who booked my appointment might have seen that too. I have asked for my next appointment to be face to face, and he was fine with that, but said it won't be for at least 3 months, let things settle first, which is fine. Had to sit in an awkward position this afternoon around Lucy, so had a stiff shoulder, went to the canal after work to stretch out and read in the fresh air. Then a bit later vegan friend came to drop off money for her Amazon order and brought me some vegan cupcakes, Lucy was very excited about those! Off work tomorrow, looking forward to that.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Mechanical might be fixable with orthotics in your shoes. Or gait training (yes, that's a thing). Or different shoes for your longer walks, with better support. Hope so. Better than taking meds for secondary inflammation after you've irritated things.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, had a day off, and weather held off too. We went to a different town to a retail park with an M & S food, treated myself to a ridiculous amount of the new products (mainly treats, not proper food! Though surely chocolate covered fruit counts as one of your five a day). Then popped into the Pets at Home for some litter. We then went to see our crafter friend who had an accident at the fair the other week, she has 5 dogs (3 Yorkshire terriers, a basset hound and the french bulldog we normally see at fairs, he's much better behaved on his own!) plus a tortoise, so had a lovely couple of hours cuddling them all (well, not the tortoise), and discovered we have some TV shows in common. While there remembered I needed toilet paper, which was a bit inconvenient as the retail park had both Home Bargains and Aldi and I hadn't realised. So had to go to cheap shop after I got home, but was good as I bumped into Malachi's mum (without Malachi), so had a bit of a chat with her, I told her I was contemplating doing some housework as we were back earlier than expected, she told me it was a day off! I did have to do the litter trays when I got home though, tried on my new clothes, two tops are a bit tight, and the dress didn't fit, but overall not bad. Then went to do a to do list and realised I meant to ring the mortgage company yesterday, so rang them to find they scrapped the early repayment fee, so have made arrangements for the remainder of my mortgage to be paid as a lump sum on Mon! Find it quite scary to be honest. Also got an appointment for a face to face rheumatology consult, though not till Dec, which is roughly the timescale he gave me yesterday.

Well, he thought that physio would help it. But am also hoping the orthotics will too. Just find it ironic that the main cause of tendinopathy appears to be over use, when this started 4 months after I stopped doing as much walking! Though as it was linked to a bout of sciatica, maybe I was just inadvertently walking awkwardly.

message 843: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments congratulations on the mortgage.
Interesting idea about the walking awkwardly, it is surprising how pain in one place can cause problems elsewhere as you try and limit that pain

message 844: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Getting your mortgage paid off is a great feeling. Congratulations.

I hope the orthotics help - that would be great.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments It is Jim, injuring foot and walking awkwardly was what caused plantar fasciitis. When I said foot was better, but sciatica had been grumbling again this week, he said it could have been grumbling all along, but foot pain was masking back pain.

Jim | 21809 comments I fell from a ladder aged 14 and about 50years later ended up with plantar fasciitis because podiatry spotted one leg was very slightly longer than the other. So she cut a thin piece of plastic, put it in my trainer under my heel, and it fixed it :-)
I still have the plastic, don't need it in wellies or new trainers, only once they've been worn a while, and if I get decent gel insoles that does instead of the plastic

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, back to a nice sunny day. Not a bad day at work, manager and colleague who got promotion are going to be doing a lot of training together, so I've started helping by keeping an eye on the e-mails, and trying to trust my judgement a bit more and not checking things when it generally turns out I've done it right, I just find that talking it through just helps me realise things. Went and sat on the canal for a bit reading after work, it might not be the walks I'm used to, but at least sitting out in fresh air reading makes me feel good. And now got a new monthly update on my game to look forward to.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, back to rain today! Morning went well at work, colleague was in late, me and manager had a nice chat and things were ticking along nicely, but the afternoon didn't go quite as smoothly, manager and colleague were training for an hour or so, so have had to just use my own initiative about what needs doing most of the day. Signed up to another scheme through energy supplier, if you use more electricity than usual, you get the extra free, but it was 1-2, so not sure I did use much. I didn't think I was going to leave the house due to the weather (quite windy at times too), but went to put rubbish out after work and it was dry, so came home, put my coat on and nipped round to Sainsbury's, just to have left my street.

Jim | 21809 comments It was a very wet day here as well. When I got in after feeding heifers in the morning, everything I was wearing went into the washing machine and I got into the shower.
But it was a very pleasant evening

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments I think I slept most of today - yesterday was stressful waiting for news of our oldest daughter's surgery, and we were wiped out. Have sent silk sunflowers until we determine if the cats will try to eat real ones which I'll send later.

When I got to my counselor's this morning, it turned out he was home with covid, and the front desk, which had my name on a list he supplied, didn't let me know. Getting up in time, eating, dressing, riding Maggie to the other side of the complex - all that takes a fair amount of my energy - so I came home almost as tired as if I'd had a visit.

My assistant was out sick Mon. and Wed., and may come Friday. But we're in her last weeks, and she hasn't found a replacement yet that I know of.

So I never got much thinking done. Sometimes that's just how it is - marking time.

Crabcakes for dinner made it somewhat better, to make up for it. Try again tomorrow. It's all you can do.
