Jim | 21809 comments Ah well you got the important stuff done :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, had our monthly craft fair today, was our best one yet, thanks to some pre orders of the teacher boxes. I came home with a present for G, finally treated myself to some whipped soap (after having to use bubble bath to shave my legs the other week!) and a lovely cat container for my decaf teabags, plus a stuffed cookie (usual cake man was still off). Feel very tired today though.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Hope you get a good night’s sleep Desley and wake up full of beans tomorrow.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, woke up to blue skies, which was nice. First day of my colleague being on leave, we had lots of awkward issues, and two colleagues from the other team either telling people we'd ring them back that day, or just putting the call through when the query wasn't urgent, so going to get manager to remind them that unless it's a or b, please don't promise we'll ring back that day for the next two weeks. So didn't get some urgent things done and did have to call one one of the managers over a tricky thing, but have had worse days. Popped to the chemist on the way home to see if Lucy's meds were in stock yet, and they aren't, so going to have to ring the manufacturer on Wed to see if they can indicate when - did ask the chemist if there was a generic version and she just told me to ring the GP and ask them to prescribe something else, smiled politely and said thanks, fed up of explaining to people who've been looking at the prescription that it's for a cat (it's on vet letterhead and does state animal use only at one point!)

message 755: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Hope the two weeks go by as smoothly as possible.

And you can find Lucy's meds! This has been going on for a long time now.

message 756: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Amazing how people don't actually read stuff. You'd have thought somebody at a chemists would have read a prescription properly

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, got woken up at 4.30 by heavy wind and rain, complete contrast to yesterday! Got very wet going to work, peeled my coat off. Another frustrating day at work, one of the colleagues I told yesterday that I couldn't take a call as it wasn't urgent tried dealing with at least two of those kind of queries herself yesterday, which was even more frustrating - the second was clearly one of the people I had spoken to, I'd had an answer from my e-mail but not had chance to get manager to explain it, but she told them to ring the people who'd already given me an answer, which will just annoy them! Luckily manager also heard it and is on it, and sending an e-mail to the wider team. A meeting plus some other frustrating things meant I didn't really get through as much as I wanted. Went to coffee shop at lunch, they'd done a taster session of some of the new things that morning, she said it was a shame I wasn't there, she hated them but thought I might like them, though matcha lemonade doesn't sound appealing. They were allowed to let me have the pistachio syrup though, and turns out they actually make their own hot chocolate, which was interesting. Stopped raining by the time I got home, nipped into B & M for a few things, went to Lidl for yoghurt and came out with more, they had british cherries, so couldn't resist that. Went to co-op for cider, then decided to check for bargains in Sainsbury's. We've had thunder and a bit of rain this evening.

Yes, this prescription was written in January Alicia. You would Jim, especially as being on an A4 piece of paper with a vet logo means it looks nothing like a normal prescription!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, dull for most of the day, with rain after work. So gloomy I decided not to bother leaving the house today, foot seems to appreciate that. Not quite as frustrating a day at work, though still don't feel we got enough done before colleague finished for her hol, she did apologise for not doing a couple of things and I just replied with 'no worries, can only do what you can do' - let's hope I can remember that over the next week and a bit! Went to brush my teeth last night and remembered that I was supposed to have bought toothpaste last night, hopefully got enough till I'm in the office on Fri and can get some more.

message 759: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Yesterday was a ridiculously wet day and it was so dull it was a dark evening!
But you get done what you get done, and hopefully you'll have a couple of days when you can get caught up

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, not seen any sun, but not as bad as yesterday, it's 9pm and just thinking I might need to put the light on, unlike yesterday when I needed to put it on at 6pm! First day with just me and manager didn't go too badly, ended the day with both numbers lower, nothing too urgent, though a few tricky things that I had to get advice on, though we did end up working late. Saw on Facebook that it appears one of the cygnets hasn't been seen since last night and mum was calling for it :-(

message 761: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Sad about cygnet.

Glad you've had a good peaceful day with just the manager.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Glad you're getting through some of the workload Desley, and Jim, yeh, it threw it down here as well. It's been, at best, overcast with a cold wind for several days. Years like this the conservatory is a godsend as you can sit in there and be warm even if outside is a bit autumal. I think we might have missed out on summer this year. On the whole, if it isn't here by mid July it ain't coming.

It's all go here. The people buying Mum's house want to complete by end of July. It'll be hard going but I'm really glad as then it's done. Selling the house has been like rehoming a much loved pet and at least it's being bought by a really lovely couple who will look after it.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening all, more random things (that even confused manager!) that took up quite a bit of time, then a couple of urgent things, so didn't get to finish something I wanted to do yesterday, and numbers don't look much better than yesterday, and I'm on my own on Monday! But not stressed about it. Manager had hoped to help me part of today, but something she had also took longer, so told her 'no worries'! Had to go to coffee shop at lunch as lost my co-op card on Tue, it was my favourite person who managed to make me chuckle and I may have accidentally come home with a rhubarb and custard blondie. Nipped to Morrisons after work, just for two boxes of teabags, obviously couldn't just walk to the part of the shop I wanted and walk out, checked out some other bits, and got things that they had either sold out of last week, or were on offer this week, did get both the new mocha flavours though, and picked up some for A too in case she hadn't got them, so came home with a full bag of shopping! Then after I got home realised I wanted to get some stuff from Greek week at Lidl while I was in the car.

I hope we are going to get a nice September MT. Fingers crossed you can get the house sorted by end of July, glad you are happy with who is buying it.

Woah Desley, it sounds like you are properly busy! And thanks, yes, I am really glad the people who have bought it have. :-) It's a weight off and although it's stressy once this is done there's an outside chance I'll get my life back for a little while ... possibly. :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, was supposed to do a craft fair but A has a stomach bug, so we didn't go. Decided to try and get on top of the housework, but a bit half hearted again (did appreciate watching a bit of TV in between chores), though downstairs looks better than it did, upstairs tomorrow. It was dry, but rain forecast, pegged the towels I washed on Thu out about 7am in the hope of them drying, then went to Lidl about 11 to get greek stuff, it started spitting as I was leaving, so had to come home and take the towels in, then went back to the coffee shop. It dried up while I was eating lunch and felt quite warm, so washing got pegged back out, though hasn't fully dried. I did feel a bit chilly earlier, so put the heating on for an hour, which is ridiculous in July!

Do hope things do settle down for you after the house is sold MT.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening all, was raining when I woke up, so I had a (for me) lazy start to the day. Did some of the upstairs housework, but foot was sore today, so fairly half hearted with rests in between. Haven't got dressed or left the house other than to put rubbish and recycling out, but feel rested. Decided against watching football, just keeping an eye on the score instead.

message 767: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Resting is good - it's my go to when things get scrambled.

Hope your foot is feeling better. It's not good resting if you're aggravating its condition, because pain doesn't help much of anything.

Our heat wave seems to be abating a bit, but was over 100°F for about two weeks. Fortunately, the AC they need to work on, held. I feel for the animals! Don't know if they've been using the water I put out on the balcony, or it's just evaporating.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Blimey, just watched a very nail biting Euros final when England were actually good although Spain still deserved to win it, but only just. England nearly equalised in the last minute it was like pinball with great goalkeeping and defending so fair play to Spain.

Alicia, I’ve started feeding our hedgehogs.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Aww, we need hedgehog pics MT! Haven't seen any round here for years.

message 770: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Us neither, then suddenly, three years ago, I noticed there were way less slugs and snails. When I walked along the path at night in the wet it used to crunch like gravel, suddenly they were gone. Then last year we actually found one and had to rescue it because it was little and wouldn't have lasted the winter so this year we knew they might be about because ... still no slugs. So we were sitting out one night, THE one night we've sat out so far, and I could hear something rustling around so the next time I got a torch (I know, cruel) and had a look and it was three hoglets and some other rustling elsewhere that we guessed must be Mum. I think they're all big enough to wander off now so it's just a big one and a smaller one which I'm guessing is Mum and the last hoglet. Not sure.

We are lucky here in that we have a lot of wildlife but so far no badgers and foxes. I suppose it could be that it's mostly small gardens with high fences so they're tricky to jump and the badgers are too big to get through but there are plenty of holes for hedgehogs. I've been feeding them with some dry cat food that Harrison spurned, although they're going to get a bit of a shock when I go on holiday for two weeks because we have rats, too so I have to feed them at half eleven and leave the bowls in the middle of the lawn. I think that will be beyond the person who comes and waters the garden for us while we're away!

I haven't managed to take any pictures because my phone camera sucks at night.

message 771: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments I'm so envious! Having a garden with real live hedgehogs is a special gift. I have purple finches (I think) that visit my 4th floor balcony - I don't know if they use the water i put out. The summer has been VERY hot.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening all, woke up at 5.30 and immediately started thinking about work! Came in to 5 issues that I had to work out priorities for, luckily our engineer was not only back from leave, but came in the office to see if he needed to sort any equipment out, so managed to get someone's advice, he knew I was on my own and did check in more than he usually would, which was appreciated. Then came back from lunch to more urgent things, but I survived, even though I felt completely drained by 4.15. Got a message from my bro earlier, Jersey had a public holiday as the King was visiting, they were on the street waiting, then got another pic as he got to shake the King's hand! We had heavy rain forecast, it was just starting to spit as I left the office, was good today and only popped in Sainsbury's to see if there was anything reduced, got a quiche for lunch tomorrow. Rain did get heavier about 7.30, but seems to be dry again now.

Aww, hoglets too! So jealous.

message 773: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Getting a picture of your brother shaking the King's had - so cool!

Seems to me you're doing well on the constant change going on in your office - personnel, tasks, managers - and using your time there wisely. But it sometimes sounds exhausting.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, quite a dull day with bits of drizzle rather than actual rain. Morning didn't start well, we couldn't get on part of the server that keeps all our files, so had to spend the first hour trying to find things that didn't require it, which wasn't much! At least we didn't come in to much new stuff, though did my usual trick of going to do something simple and finding an issue! Got a nice compliment this morning, then this afternoon someone from another dept who had rang for advice yesterday rang me back starting with 'sorry, you are going to be my go to person', which I said was fine - I'd only said to manager this morning that my help had been really appreciated and I suspect I might be her new go to person! I seem to be a lot of people's go to person though, must stop being quite so helpful. We got the numbers down slightly, which was good, one awkward thing came in this pm, so asked manager to look at it, but had noticed another issue, which she sorted at the same time, and commented that she forgot the stuff we have to deal with on a daily basis! Downside is that she has meetings part of the next 3 days, so will be on my own at times. Went to coffee shop at lunch, bought the exact same thing I bought from the one near my house, it was cheaper and nicer (and ironically, people think the one in our office is expensive), I did tell them, they seemed quite pleased, as they have clearly been told they are expensive.

It does sometimes feel very exhausting Alicia! The craft fairs seem to help balance things though.

message 775: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments It does look as if you're one of the people who have a knack of learning the system and knowing how things fit together, which helps make you 'the go to person' :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening all, warm day, though overcast for most of it. Haven't really left the house though, had my medication delivery between 12.32 and 2.32, think it got here around 1.05. Woke up feeling tired, decided to try using my iced coffee on my cereal rather than milk, worked well, though Lucy was disappointed not to have a bowl to lick! Manager said she thought we'd have a good day, she got through quite a few e-mails (or combined some to reduce numbers), I ended up with a few urgent things, so didn't get through as much as I wanted to. Had a meeting this pm, we need another new procedure to fix an issue, so need to do some troubleshooting on best way for that, joy! Manager reminded big manager she is at a meeting from potentially 9.30 to 4.30 tomorrow, I did get thanked for doing so well at keeping things afloat (clearly everyone is just going off the fact I'm getting my head down and not shouting, rather than looking at numbers!)

Probably Jim, and apparently I'm friendly and approachable. One of the people who uses me as their go to person has taught 2 new people that you do x, then 'ring/message Desley to tell her' - not the team, me specifically! Possibly also helps that I recall so much and happy to offer things to help going forward.

message 777: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments It's helpful when deliveries happen how and when they said they would.

If people have a go-to person, things get fixed before they get TOO messed up - saves time in the long run. Looks like you're needed there.

message 778: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments I'm with Alicia on this one, if you get known as being friendly and approachable people will come to you sooner than otherwise, and then things won't be in such a mess when they come to you :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, dry and warm, but quite overcast at times. Got a washload dried anyway. Survived a day pretty much on my own, did get some urgent things which took a bit of time, so didn't do much with the backlog, but manager told me before she left that I'm only one person and can only do one priority at a time. She has cancelled two of her meetings tomorrow though so I'm not on my own as much. Think I'm having a little breakthrough with Chanel, she's started rolling over like she wants some fuss and yesterday and this morning actually purred, which is a rarity. I think she does really want to give in and have a fuss, but Coco still keeps growling and popping, so don't think she can fully allow herself to. I did treat myself to a new air fryer on Prime Day, I'm actually going to get liners for this one as cleaning it is my issue (my current one is around 4 years old, and does get used most days, so done quite well for a £40 electric item)

Yes, some people definitely now ask questions rather than hope they get it right, which is better for everyone.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, managed the two weeks with limited staff, we are back to completely staffed for a few days! Nice sunny day, though quite breezy. Did have to chuckle when manager told me that someone had rang her yesterday as they couldn't remember my name, just that it began with a 'd', and before she had chance to ask if she could help, they'd put the phone down (and I did speak to them yesterday, so they must have come straight to me!). Had to pick something up from the library at lunch, I always walk a different walk back to the way I walk there, and bumped into Malachi and his owner, I've never seen him so excited to see me, so sat with them for half an hour, which was nice (though did miss out on going to the coffee shop). Went to the shops after work, bumped into G as I was leaving, so stopped and had a chat with her, I'd sent a nice meme on Thu to a few people, she asked if I really meant to send it to her, she thought she had annoyed me as we haven't seen each other for a while, as I was contemplating telling her that it's because she is so negative, she asked if it was to do with having enough social interaction with my job, so went with that! Then she was asking about my foot and tried coming up with suggestions, including one about my bunion she brings up every so often, and every time I tell her podiatrists have told me not to bother. I know she means well, but it's very frustrating, especially the one she has been bringing up for about 10 years, not sure when she'll get the message that I'd rather listen to a podiatrist than her! Had another breakthrough with Chanel, she was on the windowsill on her own, so gently brushed my hand over her fur, ignored Coco growling and Chanel did a little hiss, then I carried on, stroked her for a bit including an ear scritch and under her chin, then thought I was pushing it with Coco too much, so stopped and gave Chanel a treat. Before I left, I managed to pull some fur off the bed, and used that to stroke her, she didn't hiss that time! No purring, but most I've stroked her in years, fingers crossed she liked it enough to allow it again, shame Coco reacts so badly though, as Chanel obviously still listens to her mum!

message 781: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Time spent chatting to real people is precious, you can visit a coffee shop at any time :-)
Love the fact they'd rather speak to you than the boss

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, weather much better than forecast. Just did a bit of half hearted housework before going round to the rushbearing festival, weather was odd, was quite cloudy, but humid, so took my jacket off, and then at some point in the afternoon, got really hot. I walked into the park and was working out if I could see the rescue when I was aware someone was waving to me, was L's family, I see more of them than her! Had a walk round all the stalls and bought cake (woman was initially put out I was going to share with my cat, but when I told her it's a deal so she doesn't draw blood on me, she gave me the biggest piece so I could share it!), bumped into a colleague from one of the other teams so had a chat with her, then went to help out the rescue, and could have sworn I saw our engineer, turned out he was helping on a stall for a group he's a member of, had a chat with him too. At one point a family came up to the stall, I was trying to stop the kids diving in the bucket so just heard someone talking, turned out it was the treasurer from when I volunteered with CP, apparently things aren't going well! Probably not seen her for about 6 years. Plus some other people I knew, so had a nice afternoon, but did my usual trick of planning to go and help for an hour, and being there for like 2.5 hours, so am in pain now (not sure when I'll ever learn! Should have been more cautious this year with my foot), Did nip to the shops as well for bargains. Has just started raining, so hopefully will clear some of the humidity.

The irony is Jim, manager used to deal with that colleague before he moved teams, I've never spoken to him till he started his new job!

message 783: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments We had occasional showers but sort of got stuff done, then the heavens absolutely opened about 6pm and it was a wall of water.

Looks like you had a good day catching up with people

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, was still paying for yesterday today, so had to have rests between housework (and regretted doing less yesterday!). Sciatica as well as foot today. G rang at 11.50 asking if I wanted to go for lunch, but the place they were going is a 40 min drive away. I said no as I needed to rest, and she was being all 'it's just lunch, no real walking', but couldn't risk it with my sciatica, all it takes when it's not under control is sitting on the wrong kind of seat. I did wonder if my pain levels have been affecting my ability to deal with her negativity. Was nicer weather than forecast, so got some washing pegged out, which is the only time I've left my house today.

message 785: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments That was a smart decision: when it already hurts, being stuck on the wrong chair makes things worse.

message 786: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments And if you've got sciatica the last thing you need is somebody else's negativity, it'll just make you feel worse

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, weather wasn't as bad as forecast fortunately. Manager was supposed to be in all day, but got called away around 9.30 for the day. Was great to be pretty much fully staffed though. Did come into an e-mail from full time colleague, she'd logged on yesterday just to see what 'wall of stuff' she was coming into and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't that bad and said we were all amazing and she loves us all, so gave her a little hug. Not sure what happened to me today though, I was supposed to finish the half finished stuff from Friday, barely got through anything, my brain felt like 'don't need to be on high alert anymore' but instead was on a go slow!. Had physio this afternoon, given that where I park is close to the hospital, I opted to walk there, took 30 mins. Foot was throbbing when I got there, so was glad I was early and the physio was late. She looked at my scan results, didn't want to come to a conclusion till rheumatology has sent their conclusion, but does seem like some kind of tendonitis, though she said there had been two lots of fluid shown on the scan. Went through blood test results, was interesting to see some on a graph showing how they've changed over time, but noticed one number was in red, so asked her what it was, one of my cholesterol markers is 1.12 and the low end of the scale is 1.2, but she doesn't think I should worry about that. Then we looked at my foot, which was really swollen and she said the bit around the tendon was warm to the touch as well. She didn't want to give me too many exercises till it settles down after overdoing it on Sat but seeing her again in two weeks and now know what I need to speak to podiatry about.

Yes, and the 'helpful suggestions' - like I haven't been dealing with this for about 20 years!

message 788: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Long term problems seem so hard to deal with - until and if you're lucky, and find the one medical person who understands and knows what to do. Wishing you one of those.

When I was in grad school, I took up running - and was soon experiencing major pain in my hip. Surgeons wanted to operate (I wasn't even 25 - no thanks!), but, since I wasn't an athlete, but had probably hurt it running, I went to an orthopedic doctor (not a surgeon) who was also a runner. He said one of my legs was shorter than the other, told me he had something which MIGHT work, but no promises, made orthotics for my running shoes - and solved the problem! I used those things for YEARS after. I liked the way he approached things, and he saved me from unnecessary surgery and scar tissue.

I never became the kind of runner who got runner's high, but it solved the pain problem permanently.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening all, sunny and warm today, so got to wear my sketcher type shoes, foot was slightly happier, but uncomfortable now. Got through way more work today, still got a couple of things left from last week, but did do some urgent stuff that came in this week, so that's fine. Colleague did wonder if part of yesterday was my hospital appointment - even though it was only physio, being early afternoon meant I was probably mentally clock watching to make sure I didn't forget to set off at the right time. Numbers are looking much better with 3 of us working on things. Went to coffee shop at lunch with idea of seeing if they can do iced mocha, they had the new summer menu, which did have that but also raspberry and pomegranate lemonade and orange and passion iced tea, I was contemplating which one of those to try, manager said she wouldn't recommend the orange, then said 'but I wouldn't like most of what you drink, so you might', I took her recommendation and will try the other one next week. My manager had bought a cake from there, broke a bit off, decided she didn't like it, but knew I'd had that one last time we were in the office on a Fri, so gave it me as a 'present', it was very nice, but Lucy is too annoyed with me for syringing her medication to try it. Needed to go to B & M after work, but had forgotten to check my list this morning, so did forget a couple of things.

Wow, scary that they went straight to suggesting surgery Alicia!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, got to bed last night and realised I had no painkillers or anti inflammatories, but couldn't face going back down the stairs, have paid for that today. Did manage to clear quite a bit off my to do list though, things are looking much better, glad it hasn't taken too long to get things looking better. Rang podiatry at lunch to find that yet again. they have taken me off the list, so grumbled at the woman, as I keep being told that I will be kept on the list, and then as I don't need it often, I'm taken off, then have to go through the whole new patient referral (which must be wasting their time!) and need to ring in 2-3 working days. Went to the chemist after work as physio had mentioned topical inflammatory gel, but wanted to check with my other meds, he's sold me a topical local analgesic and got some more painkillers. bizarrely they were out of generic ones, so had to sell me branded ones that are 12/500 co-codamol, can't wait for my sis to get off the phone so I can take meds and go to bed.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Sounds painful - sorry to hear.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, got woken up at 5.45 by Lucy being sick! Foot felt better though, till I got up and showered, though it's still nothing like yesterday. Despite the physio not saying much when I mentioned it, I bought a cheap ankle support from Amazon, arrived just after lunch and did seem to help (though I was sat a lot), wasn't sure how long I could wear it for though, so took it off to go to the shops and haven't put it back on. I felt like I had a good day at work, either cleared some outstanding stuff or had chance to chase it up, but colleague had the opposite. Just us two tomorrow as manager is off.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, had one of those days at work where I know I did a lot, but not really sure what! Not helped by the plan I had being changed by more pressing stuff come in, so doesn't felt like I did what I planned. We had a little bit of rain in the morning, but dried up, was cloudy at lunch, went to the coffee shop, wasn't sure what I wanted, she let me try a bit of pistachio frappe she had leftover from the customer in front of me, which was nice, so had one of those and a slice of cake, was shocked when she said '£8 please' though! Was quite sunny after work, so put my kindle in my bag to go and sit at the canal and read for a bit, bumped into a neighbour when someone she knew wanted directions to the bus stop and it was on my way, so walked this random bloke round! Decided to treat myself to chippy for tea, thought it would have been quiet with it being such a nice day, but the place was rammed! Very impressed at how quickly they got through us.

But it was nice to get out a bit. Food was unremarkable - they should have just done it on the grill inside. Brought my own low-sugar catsup - theirs is like eating sugar.

Jim | 21809 comments Be interesting to see how soon comments surface about Desley walking with this random bloke :-)

I confess I like a chippy tea occasionally but yesterday went for a walk with a friend and we stopped in at a local eatery which has just changed hands.
My lady wife joined us, it was rather good. We both had the fish and chips and they were excellent

Amy (rodgersamy) | 2 comments Hi everyone!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, Lucy woke me up at 5.50, I ignored her, but then gave up trying to get back to sleep at 6.20 and had to crawl out of bed round the little madam, who had gone back to sleep! Didn't feel much in the mood for doing housework today, went to the shops just before lunch just to get off the sofa, got to cuddle some neighbourhood dogs. Didn't give me much more incentive though, so have done the essential stuff and left everything else.

Glad you enjoyed your fish and chips Jim. Hi Amy.

Jim | 21809 comments It was just a nice amount as well, leaving room for a home made brownie and ice cream :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Evening, was a nice sunny day today, but our craft fair was in a windowless room! Nearly got to A's when I realised my foot wasn't sore, and it held up the entire craft fair, even when my colleague came (with her very cute 6 month old puppy), so I stood outside chatting to her for 10 mins or so. We did enough to make our table, I was good and came home with nothing, though was tempted with a bracelet - there was nice cake but I already had cake on Fri (and had some left). We packed up early, so she dropped me at co-op and I thought as I had my kindle on me, I'd walk round to canal and read for a bit, bumped into someone I knew so had a chat. Came home, read a bit more, then thought I better make the bed and sort out the cat bowls, foot did start grumbling after that, so sat and finished my book.

While not a brownie fan, I do like meals that are enough to leave room for dessert :-)
