A few years ago Wyoming Game Warden Joe Pickett had deadly dealings with the Cates family. After the death of 3 Cates men and the debilitating injuries of Brenda Cates, the remaining son, Dallas, vowed revenge against Joe and his family, thus perpetuating the vicious circle in which they were entangled. Now Dallas has been released from prison, a sentence that was overblown by Joe and the district attorney to keep Dallas away from the Picketts. Immediately Dallas revises the feud and begins to target Joe's daughters. A local hunter is murdered and his death is blamed on Dallas and is quickly followed by the disappearance of a bartender who may have overheard Dallas and his friends plan further malice. Joe is hard pressed to protect his wife and three daughters while also investigating Dallas' activities. Everyone will be shocked to find out the truth behind the attacks.

I really enjoy this series starring Joe Pickett. I love his honesty, his dedication to his family and his job, and his determination to bring the guilty to justice. I'm so glad there are quite a few more books in this series for me.
