second chances

I loved the premise of Sylvia McNicoll's book, Best Friends Through Eternity. Can we have a second chance to make things right? She has explored this idea in at least one other book - Dying To Go Viral - but each time gives it an interesting new twist. My question for discussion - if given a second chance, what would you do over? Or should you leave it in case you make it worse?
