What are your thoughts about the confrontation with the pirates who assaulted the party on the ship, especially Kate's excitement about the fight?

well, I thought it was cool to see a new kind of shifter but I also had a sense of foreshadowing....they were moving into uncharted waters in more ways than one!

[Erin]

I always love to see the Pack in action! And I love that Kate fits right into their badassery :).

[Jonetta]

The fight was amazing and on some level, kind of fun as they worked in perfect tandem. However, I was also struck by Kate's thought of how exciting it was, almost as if she enjoyed the bloodthirst. This thought came barreling back to me when Hugh asserted something similar.

[Lauren]

It was a great scene and I loved seeing Kate, Curran and the others working together. I also realized that there was more to this attack than met the eye and that a lot of the events that follow relate back to it.

Kate is definitely not a warm and snuggly heroine. She wouldn't be the heroine we love if she didn't get off on the violence. That's just who she is and who she has always been.

I agree, Lauren. She's a total adrenaline junkie in terms of her more violent tendencies. Maybe that's why she fits in so well with a pack of maniac shape shifters ;).

[Lauren]

Yup, she fits right in with the crazy pack and her own personal psycho, lol!

Also, she was kind of raised to be bloodthirsty. Voron doesn't raise no wimps. ;) Luckily, the good in her makes her fight on the right side, but I think there will always be a little shot of excitement that surges through her when faced with a fight.

Good point, Monica. Let's face it, Voron raised her and Hugh!

Great point, Monica. Anyone who was raised in the way as Kate was would be somewhat bloodthirsty!
