"we probably wouldn't be together," he said truthfully "i would be training all the time. you would be with your family"

"True yeah, but to be honest my father would make us fight more often if he knew where I been. I try my hardest to avoid fighting any of his prodigies. I normally teach Ren." Verene said.

"well, then I'm glad he didn't. I don't want to hurt you ever again."

Alex was just silently watching them from the tree. they need to make it out, at any cost

"Yeah, I always hated when he made Ren fight with other. Ren is a softer person and a disappointment in my father's eye. Ren is not good in any type of weaponry like me." Then Verene started crying. "I miss him I miss Ren." She then hold her head with her hands and sobbed.

"hey, come here darling" he pulled her even closer "you'll get to see him soon. i promise"

"I know you want me to live but it can't be garentee. Like right now Ren could be suffering without me." She said holding onto him.

"i am doing my damnedest to make sure you get home. at any cost"

"No, I won't win cause I don't want to if it means you die because of it." She said in a firm tone. "I can't loose you after I just got you. I can't loose you after I just realized I love you." She said.

"you need to get home to Ren." it wasn't a question. she would make it home

"But." She then whispered. "What if my home is now with you wherever you go I go." She will sacrifice everything to be with him.

"the only way to have us together is if we both die." he didn't add that they could also both get out but that doesn't happen

"Then I am fine with that." Verene said.

"i love you babe but Ren needs you. more then you need me"

"I know Ren needs me. But I need you more than anything." Verene then stood up and started packing up the sleeping bags. ANd she then took out the cook Boar. She gave some to Alex and then to Blake.

Blake couldn't argue with that. "I need you too babe" He took the piece and chewed on it. it was bland but better then fish

"Thanks" alex said eating

"Of course, now let talk about strategy." Verene said eating up her small portion. She didn't want to have big portions. She didn't want to loose this food supply so fast.

"yes, I think the other tributes will have to come here to get water. i say we stay and watch to see what happens" he looked at Alex

"I agree too. We will need to start setting up traps then." Verene said.

"We should move our stuff higher in the trees. so that it cant be stolen if something happens" blake said looking up at the trees

"Yes and no, we need to set a trap, I will sacrifice my backpack, but it will be empty. It will be a trap. We can put the remaining stuff in the other back packs." Verene said.

"ok. Do any of your poisons work by just touch? we could put some on the pack" he started to rearange his pack to make more room for the stuff that is in Verenes

"Wait guys." Verene smelled something it was smoke. "Guys the Forest is on fire. We need to hurry up with our stuff if I am correct the tributes will head here." Verene said standing up quickly.

"Alright, you climb and stash i will set the one down here. and be right up" he then looked at Alex making eye contact "keep her safe if this goes south" he said quietly. knowing a fight is coming he knew someone is going to die and it might be him

"Blake no." She quickly unplugged her poison. "Make sure not to inhale." She then poured it all over the backpack. The Poison is to mess up your brain. She then took Blake's back pack and climbed up.

he took a deep breath and moved the bag to be close to the stream making it look like it was left when a tribute was picked up. he then quietly ran to the tree and started to climb up

Verene the quickly took out some boar and put poison on it. She then dropped it onto the ground. "It won't smell you can only digest it to become active." Verene whispered.

Blake nodded "genius." "lets move up a little more to be safe" he stod on a branch offering a hand to Verene.

Alex stayed put "ill stay here and be a closer set of eyes"

"just be smart and safe" blake said

Verene gave Alex a nervous glance but took Blake's hand.

"keep moving a little further up." he wanted to keep her safe "This should be good," He said once they were up about 20 feet

"Uh, I guess it probably is the worst time that I am scared of heights." She said putting her head in his chest.

"i've got you" he sat down gently holding her to him tightly "you wont fall. i wont let you"

"I'm worried about Alex." Verene said trying to lower her heartbeat.

"Why?" he was a little worried but was more worried about Verene. Blake could feel her heart beating. he kissed her shoulder gently trying to calm her down

"Because, I don't want him to be hurt. He is our friend. And i don't want to loose him." She said leaning into his touch.

"it'll be okay. they know what it going on. besides we've got his back" he shifted a bit to look down the tree seeing alex curled up just watching the ground

"Good." Verene said holding on tighter on Blake after she looked down.

"how are you doing?" he asked. just a question that should've been simple but was not in their circumstances

"Terrified and at peace at the same time." She said smiling at him. "What about you Blake how are you?" She asked.

"Mr. Swan do not make jokes when we are 20ft above ground please. But I guess you are right i did fell for you." Verene said.

"but i want to V" it didn't feel right to call her his wife now that they both admitted it is very real but with it being real it was almost a new start.

"You know it be nice if we lived through this I would actually want to make you my Husband maybe." Verene said smiling.

He smiled "way to steal my thunder." he laughed "i was just about to ask you to marry me." he whispered in her ear "Verene, love of my life, will you marry me for real?"

Xavier cautiously walked to the stream, taking out his canteen and his bow and arrow.

Blake kissed her back with all the love he has making sure to hold her tightly so she wouldn't fall
