The Stream

"yeah don't worry." She then put out the fire. She handed Blake with the cook fish and to Alex. "Don't worry. But we should move quickly and earase our tracks." She said having a bite or two of her fish.

"We should head to the Grasslands." Verene said tucking her leftovers in her backpack.

"sounds good." he took a bit trying but failing to hide his distaste for fish "where do you guys think people are hiding out?"

'The Forest that has the best hiding spots and more animals to kill. And more tributes to alline or kill." Verene shivered from the mention of people killing each other just to survive.

"so we move away from that." As blake was thinking alex spoke up

"we should head towards the artic" Alex was quiet when he got looks from both Blake and Verene "i know that sounds bad but most people wont go near it. we can survive easier near it because others wouldn't go near it"

"Okay, I agree." She Looked at Blake. "What about you?"

"Near it yes. In it? no way in hell. not unless its a last resort" he didnt want Verne to find out how ig of a baby he becomes when he gets cold.

"Blake are you sure? Alex has a good point." She said. Moving to him looking at him with her silver eyes.

"i dont think im quite ready for you to see how big of a baby i can be when i get cold." he addmitted

alex started to laugh queitly

Blake glared at them "shut up blondy"

"Don't worry you can't be that bad. Trust me I dealt with Ren he hates the cold. He acts like a freaking baby all the time. And plus you can never change my mind about you your stuck with me forever." She said with a smile.

"I'm going to hold you to that," He said wrapping an arm around Verene's waist. he kissed the top of his head

Alex threw their fish bones in the stream and picked up the few things they have, handing blake his pack as well.

"thanks, blake slung it over one shoulder then reaching for Verenes "let me carry yours"

"No, no, no I am a big girl I can carry my own stuff." She said giving him a smile. They headed towards the Artic.

Xavier was hidden by a couple of trees, evaluating his stuff. He still had the poison he made, so he decided to cover the tips of his arrows and his sword with poison. He waited until the tributes left so he could gather water into his canteen.

Blake nodded and took the pack of the pack making sure to keep an eye out for anyone coming from behind or ahead

Once they left, Xavier filled up his canteen with water from the stream. He began to purify it with a water purifier while searching his bag for anything else. He had a first aid kit, and that was pretty much it besides the other things. He still felt satisfied though. Eventually, he would make a shield and go to Cornucopia again for some more supplies.

After fully purifying the water Xavier packed up his stuff, holding his bow in hand. He headed toward the forest to make a shield and hopefully meet some allies.

Verene, Blake, and Alex came back to the wonderful stream. They set up camp and were ready to go to sleep.

blake climbed up a nearby tree "you guys coming up?" he said smiling

"I should probably take the watch tonight." She said looking up at him.

"how about we just stay up for a little bit?" he really just wanted her for a little bit

"Okay." She said sitting next to him putting her head on his shoulder.

He wrapped both his arms around her "the stars are gorgeous" he said looking at them then at Verene"like you"

"Aww aren't you cute." She said then giving him a small peck on the cheek. "When I was a little girl my sister and I use to love playing games with stars. We pretend the stars were the tributes who died in the games and helped us lead to safety since nobody helped them." Flood of memories with her sister came back.

"how much older is your sister?" he said still looking at her

"Oh she was 4 years older, so if she was still living she be 21." Verene said in a sad soft tone.

Blake nodded "was she in the games?"

"No but she wanted to help in the Capitol and wanted to learn so. But then she Met Caleb and yeah just went down hill. What about you tell me about your family." She said looking him in the eye.

" my family was interesting." he grimiced "we didn't really get along. i left when i could. i dont talk to them anymore. they didnt even say bye"

"Oh I am so sorry. I could never do that to my family." She said. "I love my family even my father."

"i didn't think they could either" he had been trying to ignore the fact that he probably wont ever see his family again " they they did so they dont probably care at all"

“We’ll you have me, I am your family.” Verene then fell asleep in his arms.

"yes, yes you are," he said quietly kissing the crown of her head

"Y'know i totally thought at first that you guys were fake" Alex chimed in settling in a nearby branch

Blake sighed "Well to be honest," he lowered his voice "It is fake." he paused then looked at Verene "Or at least it's supposed to but I cant help it. I am totally in love with her." he shrugged with the shoulder that wasn't being used as a pillow. "not that it will ever be more than fake to her."

Verene woke up when the sun was just rising. She use to love sunrises but now they are unpredictable will you die today or not. She jumped off the tree branch she was in and went to get a drink of water.

Blake slowly opened his eyes and groanded when he realized he fell asleep while on watch then panicked for a minute before he saw verene down below. he hopped down and came up behind verene wrapping himself around her

"Hello, wow what did I do to deserve this embrace from you." She said smiling holding onto him.

"i just love you." he got closer to her ear "for real" he wasn't sure what made him do it but he did. he told her he loves her... for real

Verene heartbeat started going fast. "I love you to Blake Swan, I always have." Verene said finally saying the words she been dying to say.

"I'm sorry i was so stupid and didn't realize it sooner." he watched the water just holding her

"Ha I was battling an emotional battle with the faking and all. But yeah I always knew I liked you from the moment you beat me up at my father's place." She smiled.

"abuse is what made you like me?" he laughed quietly "that screwed up. but your perfect"

"No, it the fact you were different. From all the other boys I needed to fight. They were always scared of taking me down they never gave me a challenge they feared my father too much. Also it may have also been cause you looked cute after I beat you." She smiled.

"I also knew that we be good friends if put in different circumstances." She said.

"we can wait a few for that" he said still holding her

"Fine." She said. Thinking of what ifs and what would happen if they weren't in the games. Would they be close like this or would they be at arms length.

"its not like there is much to do" he said still just enjoying their first few moments as an actual couple

"Yeah, I was thinking what would happen if we never were in the games." Verene said.
