Just started the audiobook. I love the way it just jumps right in where The Inheritance Games left off!

I finished the book

(view spoiler)[ At first I thought that Kaylie was Avery's mother and that she survived but then it turned out that she's her aunt. Was sure that Toby was her father but he has another child. With all the secrets her mother had, it pointed to him being her dad.
L'm surprised she decided to be with Jameson and not Grayson.
Lots of twists in this one, really enjoyed it. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I enjoyed it! And I like the ending of this one a lot more, it felt like an actual ending, even though there's enough loose ends to keep the series going. I did believe Toby was Avery's dad, as soon as they revealed that he was adopted. I'm still a little confused on Tobias's reasoning in leaving everything to her.

Sorry ladies. I got so ill I couldn’t read for more than a week and had to switch to audiobooks for that long. My reading plans are shot to hell so I have to give up on this book for this year :-( I’ll give it a try early next year.

(view spoiler)[I liked the plot twists and how I was 100% sure Toby was Avery's dad and yet I was somehow dead wrong. I'm still not a fan of love triangles and while Jameson had (a lot, I'll give him that) of character growth, I still don't think it was enough for Avery to pick him. I was rooting for Grayson 😭😭. Looking forward to the next book though! (hide spoiler)]

Actually, I've been thinking about this book and I have a question - (view spoiler)[so it makes sense that Toby can't be Avery's dad bc then it seems (to the outside world who things Toby is legitimately a Hawthorne) that Avery would just be dating her... cousin(?) and that would be sketchy.

However, it was mentioned that Avery looks a lot like Emily - to the point where in the first one, when she was dressed like her, Grayson looked like he had seen a ghost. If Avery isn't actually related to Emily (not Toby's kid) then why does she look so similar? Was this just a red herring to keep us from guessing that Toby isn't her father? (hide spoiler)]

I agree (view spoiler)[ even Mellie's sister looks like Emily.. Toby was adopted so it would be ok for them to be dating but like you said the outside world might find it a bit weird. More questions on top of questions with this series (hide spoiler)]
