Who is an author you'd recommend from a country adjacent to where you live now?
(If you live on an island, pick the country closest to you. If you haven't read any authors from countries adjacent to you, let us know who you'd most like to read.)

Simona Miroiu I live in Romania, so that would be Georgi Gospodinov from Bulgaria.

Two of my favourite authors - albeit it very different ones! I will add Daniel Kehlmann from Germany

I don't think I've read any Libyan literature...

I was going to go with David's pick above, but I'll choose another Mexican writer and book since a new translation is due out this week courtesy of Serpent's Tail:
Juan Rolfo's Pedro Páramo.
