Hi Chelle,

UGGHHH!! I wanted to pick them all..🤣 I added several of these to my TBR 🤦♀
I haven't read any of them but they all looked good. So being a cover lover & a favorite genre is historical fiction I went with these:

I'm so glad that I was able to contribute to your TBR. LOL. And thank you for the picks! These sound amazing and I cannot wait to get to them.

Bonus:

thanks, Elaine! I think I'm going to try to fit Hello Stranger in because I read (and really enjoyed) The Bodyguard earlier this summer. 😊

Book - The Alchemist and an Amaretto
Author - Annette Marie
Date - 10/9/23
Rating - 3 Stars
Review - This series is good, but it remains 3 stars for me. The romance portion is what annoys me the most. I honestly wish Tori would just sleep with all 3 guys and get it out of her system so we can get on with the story and stop having to hear about how hot they are. Yeah we got it in the first book, do we have to hear about it for the rest of the series?

I liked it, but not as much as this author's other stories. This didn't end with answers to the situations that the plot revolved around, so it felt unfinished.

Easy, fluffy, read with interesting MCs. This is the second book in the series, but there's no need to read the first one even though there are returning characters.

Book - Road of Bones
Author - Christopher Golden
date - 10/19/23
Rating - 4 Stars
Review - This is a very creepy atmospheric horror novel that is set along The Kolyma Highway in one of the coldest regions on earth, Siberia. The road is 1200 miles long and was built by those who were gulag prisoners. Over 250,000 prisoners died while building this road and were buried beneath it. Felix Teig and hs friend Jack Prentiss are driving that road trying to save what is left of Felix's career in the TV show industry by filming a TV show showing what life is like along the road. There travels take an unexpected turn when they run into other worldly creatures and they and two other people have to flee for their life down the loneliest and coldest highway in the world. This was quite fun and creepy. I found it hard to put down

Ugh, meh.
I wanted to love this book. I expected to love this book.
There are not many Armstrong books I don't like, but this is at the top of the list.
The book spent SOOOOOOOOO much time talking about the pandemic (it felt like every other paragraph was about that). It used up space where we could have gotten to actually know and care about the characters. But I didn't.
Considering the idea and the gore, you would think this would be tense and scary. It was not. It was boring. In my opinion.

Bonus:

3.5 stars, rounded up
So much is so right.
So gloss inconsistencies,
focus on romance.

3. 5 stars, rounded down
Though sometimes clunky,
place and voice feel authentic.
Home’s where you make it.
