Rachel N. | 2249 comments The book starts strong with two girls disappearing. The rest of the book I didn't much like. Each month for the following year is covered with the story of a different woman in the region where the girls disappeared. The women are mostly rather tangentially connected to the missing girls. The stories for the most part were really dark and depressing, covering topics like domestic violence and rape. I must have added this to my tbr shelf thinking it would be much more of a mystery novel, that's not how I would classify it.

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12651 comments Oh, thanks for this honest review-I have been putting off reading it as no one seemed to like it to much. You just made the decision, of taking it off my shelf, that much easier.

Hoping your next book is better!

Robin P | 5823 comments I was also disappointed in this, I think I gave 3 stars but yes, it's quite dark.

Booknblues | 12158 comments I actually really liked this book and finding out about life on the Kamchatka Pennisula.

It is somewhat bleak but I thought it ended well.
