[For example, EMP consequences, Solar Storm [grid destruction], nuclear holocaust, global Pandemic, natural Disasters, Asteroids]

Maybe Australia as a setting? Examples are anything by Jane Harper or The Island by Adrian McKinty.

The Jo Modeen series (fun and light though full of action, starts with The Modeen Factor) is also set in Australia :-D

Stories with that include a high level of technology integration but are NOT dominated by it. Story should be about the characters, (multiple points of view) in various aspects of a conflict.

We're going to have a selection pool of group read themes that you suggest and we cycle through every six months.
This is the seventh cycle.
*You can add your suggestion to the list, and/or if you really like a suggested theme, feel free to second it.
*We're not going to vote on these unless I get plenty of feedback that several readers don't want/like this process and want to go back to the old way of doing things.
*I can use the themes in order until we run out, and we'll start over again with a new pool.
Some general guidelines:
1. We will take six group themes and one alternate for each cycle. The alternate is kind of a wild card/extra just in case. It will go at the top of the list for the next cycle.
2. The themes need to be distinctive from each other. As much as possible, avoid extremely general themes. I'm going to suggest we don't pick a theme that is limited to one specific authors' books.
3. One suggestion per member per cycle (a cycle is seven months)
4. If your suggestion is not straightforward, I will ask for clarification and narrowing down. If you aren't able to do so, I will have to table the suggestion until it's clear enough for others to understand/be able to generate book choices to vote for.
5. For some reason, if we don't have seven, I will give members about a month to make a sixth and seventh suggestion and then I will close the cycle and we will just go through what we have.
6. If we get more than seven suggestions (and each one has been posted by a separate member) before the cycle closes, I'll add it to the new/next cycle.
7. The last two months before the end of the cycle, I will open up a new suggestion list to accumulate new themes.
8. We will still vote on the books as usual.
Cycle Seven Suggestions:
1. October 2023: Wild Card (sorry I was late opening the new cycle)
2. November 2023: Special Forces
3. December 2023: Archaeology
4. January 2023: Battle Fantasy I
5. February 2023: Battle Fantasy II
6. March 2023: Apocalypse
7. April 2023: Australia Setting
8. May 2023: Military Fiction (high-tech, character-focused, multi-POV)

**Edited to add: Since there was a problem with my poll link for the January poll, we will read both books-one on January and February. As such, I've moved down the group read themes and this cycle will have eight themes. I apologize for the error on my part.
