How to add an unnamed series?

This book is part of a trilogy. Two books are out already, and it hasn't been named yet.

Can I add it unnamed, or use the first book for the series?

I don't think coming up with my own name is a good idea, as it might cause people to think the name is official.

Should I wait until the author decides on a name?

Please wait until the author has a name for the series. You could always reach out to the author and suggest that they name the series and add this information to his books in GR.
