ROUND 3 INFO
Our round 3 word is VIOLA POMPOSA
For the color bonus, we're looking for RED for the next round.
The round is bonus is looking for Instruments on the cover. See info here.
We have a little over 2 days left in round 2. We're looking good. Hopefully everyone is finding some great books.

Hi Team! Let me just say, we are kicking ass on the city bonus this round - great job everyone!
As this round is coming to a close, we ask that everyone get their read books entered on the tracking sheet by Friday night. If you have a book that you KNOW you'll finish by Saturday noon EST (giving captains the chance to make any final letter adjustments and get us checked in on time,) leave it on the tracking sheet. Otherwise, please shift any books you won't be finishing this round to the Round 3 tab of the tracking sheet.
there are No Scrubs on this team! ;)

Yes to both.

Thanks Deanna. While I have been listening to an audiobook I have been searching for books to read in round 3.

Thanks Deanna. I already have this so going to start soon after I finish my two books for this round.

ETA: I looked at the link above and it looks like 10 books with instruments on the cover is the max.

Yes, 10 is the max.

With Mary's last book, we'll have read 126 books this round, hit 41 cities for the bonus, and have a bunch of chunky books in the midst - an all-around successful round :)
You guys rock!

(in honor of our concert-going Mary ;) )
one housekeeping note: Joyce, would you please add The Cat Who Saved Books to your wheel shelf?

My house is much cleaner now.

Should be all set, Shan!

Yes, I would say the horn works.

Yes, I would ..."
Thanks, Deanna. I was able to pick it up at the library today.

Yes, that's correct.

Hey team! A little over 3 days left in Round 3. We have all of the red covers. We've completed 7 books with instruments on the cover and have 2 more unfinished books on the spreadsheet, so that leaves 1 more instrument on the cover up for grabs.
As far as letters, see row 3, columns J-Q for the exact numbers to finish up our remaining partial spellings. We can always add a few letters to a new spelling if we get these finished.
You all are awesome! Happy reading this week!

Also found an old Elmore Leonard book that works for a lot of letters just from a cursory look thanks to Kindle search feature and the Jackie Brown cast list on IMBD.
Any else notice that Amazon seems to have removed the book search feature? That was very handy for challenge when listening to an audio book.

Never Mind: I found a book that, thanks to someone adding all the characters to it's page here, is a gold mine of letters and has a violin on the cover. I'll read that before Rum Punch.

Mary, it is not gone. They just moved it. They used to have that little arrow that said "look inside". It took me a minute but now they have a little button underneath that says "Read Sample" instead. You can only search the physical versions but yeah it is still there. Different wording but the same thing.

Word: ukulele
Color: Brown
Round 4 Bonus
It's time to explore the many varied musical forms from around the world.
Find these musical genres in your books! You need to find the exact word (see below and yodelling caveat), and you need to find ten different genres.
Each genre you find in the text will earn an additional 5 bonus points. Only one bonus word per book and a maximum of 10 bonus words.
Genres
[Baroque
Bhangra
Bluegrass
Calypso
Electronica
Fado
Folk
Grunge
K-Pop
Mambo
Mariachi
Merengue
Motown
Noh
Polka
Rautalanka
Reggae
Salsa
Shashmaqam
Ska
Spiritual
Sufi
Tango
Yodeling (or Jodeling) (Note: either English or US ll / l variant acceptable)
Zydeco
Note: you must find the words exactly (so you can't find "electronic" - it has to have the -a ending), but if you find an exact match that isn't talking about the music genre (e.g. "he was a spiritual person" you can still claim it). And yes, we mean you can't use plurals, possessives or verb ending changes (bad luck if you find "he yodels" but no yodelling!)
Books mentioned in this topic
Have Yourself a Deadly Little Christmas (other topics)American Tabloid (other topics)
Fan Fiction (other topics)
Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing (other topics)
The Cold Six Thousand (other topics)
I now have 4 books set in 3 different cities. I hope to finish 2 of them by the end of this round.
