The Windsor Knot by S.J. Bennett 4 stars (subdue)

It's 2016 and Queen Elizabeth is planning to celebrate her 90th birthday. Unfortunately a guest at Windsor Castle, a young Russian who was there playing piano, is murdered and the castle staff are all suspects. With the help of her assistant private secretary, Rozie Oshodi, the Queen begins her own investigation of the case because she doesn't accept MI5's version of events. It turns out the Queen has been helping solve mysteries since she was a child.
There is a serious side to the case but mostly the book was fun. I like the author's imagined glimpses into the royal family. How the Queen manages to get the police to the right solution without them know she did so is really well done. I look forward to reading more of this series.

I was also pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. It was chosen by my f2f cozy mystery group and I feared it would be pretty awful but it was great. 4* from me as well.
