There are a LOT of books about and set during the World Wars... how about a book set during a different historical war? Or even a fantasy or science fiction war?

Jeanne | 30 comments If you like fantasy, the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik is set during the Napoleonic Wars. Napoleon Bonaparte and dragons, oh my!

Jen W. (piratenami) I read a US civil war book (and Pulitzer Prize winner) in one of my high school history classes and remember liking it: The Killer Angels.

I think most Star Wars books would probably count, too, especially the ones set during the films.

Aquaria This prompt delights me because I burned out on WWII books, long ago. Too many about that era have come out in recent years, they start to blur in my mind even when I'm reading them, so I tend to avoid them whenever possible.

I picked the US Civil War story of The Sweetness of Water by Nathan Harris.

Denise | 55 comments I read The Wager: A take of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder by David Grann. Takes place during the War For Jenkins' Ear, one of the many conflicts between England and Spain in the 1700's
