anyone sometimes have trouble reading sequels or even dnf series because of sequels? If so what series has this happened with?

I've had such trouble with many sequels that I first enjoyed. Matched, Jade City, Greenglass House, Little Women, Sylvie and Bruno Concluded, Find Me (by Anne Frasier).

Authors who chance upon a great book and are asked to submit a cracking sequel by some arbitrary deadline don't usual feel inspired or even love writing by that stage.

Marketing and hype usually carries some subpar sequels to success. Doesn't mean the book in question is any good.
