For our next month of 2023 group reads - October - we have chosen two books each with the theme - Birthstone is Opal - Books set in Rural Australia - therefore members will have four to choose from when you vote in the poll. (Once again, all Aussie authors)

Our choices are:

Now, at twenty-six, Molly's life is almost perfect. She's the devoted mother of Rose, and a renowned horse trainer. She lives amid the beauty of Jacaranda Farm, surrounded by family and friends – none closer than hunky stockman Heath. But she's still looking for the love of her life, and a father for Rose.

Crows Nest by Nikki Mottram Crows Nest by Nikki Mottram

Fleeing problems in her own marriage, child protection worker Dana Gibson leaves Sydney for a job in the Queensland town of Toowoomba. Her first house call is to nearby Crows Nest to assess the children of Sandra Kirby, which results in her getting both her new boss and a local detective offside. Dana soon learns that, in the country, city rules do not apply.

A Stranger in Featherwood Falls (Featherwood Falls #1) by Heather Reyburn A Stranger in Featherwood Falls by Heather Reyburn

To lose a loved one is tragic, but to lose a lifetime of dreams? Unthinkable.

As a series of farm related incidents unravel, heightening her suspicions, her livelihood is put under threat. Featherwood Station is Ginny’s lifeblood—her passion, her home, and her haven and she is determined it will stay that way. But it seems someone else wants the property as much as she does and will stop at nothing to get it.

Her Buried Bones (Opal Fields #1) by Fiona Tarr Her Buried Bones by Fiona Tarr

She came to find answers – she discovered a trail of secrets…

When Jenny Williams took a job as the new constable in an outback opal mining town, she thought she’d be hunting down clues to find her missing aunt and cousin. But when a young woman’s body is found at the bottom of a mine shaft, a possible murder forces her personal agenda to take a back seat.

Jenny goes head to head with her new commanding officer. He doesn’t want to ruffle feathers in town and rules the case Death By Misadventure. But Jenny is sure the dead woman met with foul play.
