Any of you use any Malaysia based Book Subscription service ?
(Bookish Bundle or Duality Box)

Where do you guys buy your physical books ?

Zakwan Nazmi (zakknn) | 2 comments I buy most of my books from a second-hand bookshop in Ipoh called Novelhut. Online, I use Books n Bobs and Bookaholics Anonymous.

I buy books from MRKB near my house. It is mainly a stationery store, but have a selection of good titles too upstairs, although the genres are limited because they focused on school books.

If I buy online, I targeted the stores that keep my reading lists, for example Kinokuniya, Akademi Jawi, Kafilah Buku, Ilham Books, Kawah Buku, IBDE, PTS, DBP, among others.

Sometimes I buy from Amazon and Abebooks, too. But must be really selective if it's from Abebook. Until now, at least two of my parcels (one book each) never arrived. I have to change to another seller next time.

I never tried Abebook before, but about your parcels never arriving is making me hesitate. Does Amazon charge extra for shipping to Malaysia ?

Deviki | 207 comments Do you guys consider buying print books instead of original copies ? You see loads of those in Shopee (Indonesia)
I rather pay more for original copies since it has more value with resale.

Dzaqwan Amir | 18 comments I never found the book I want on Books n Bobs :( Since the death of Book Depository, I never bought any physical book aside from book fests. And, I basically boycotted Amazon as they were the cause of Book Depository to shut down

Nowadays it's more convenient for me to just buy ebook on Google Playbook. If cannot find legal copy, only then I would download the pirate one (but never ever buy the copies from shopee)

Also, Zlib is still alive. Read the pinned thread on their official subreddit

OMG U R RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't bother to check on Zlib after it got shutdown. Now i know thanks a lot . From my reaction, you could tell that I download more books (sample read books I like first before I decide to buy physical books-only if its a thick book). I rarely buy ebook, unless it's on sale (dirt cheap)

I found some gems in Shopee who sell preloved books and some old books but you mostly can't get the latest popular books.

I don't buy print copies either.

I don't understand why they shutdown BD, aside from claiming Amazon downsizing their employees. Either way its a sad news for many bookworms around the world.

Isn't MPH very expensive ? They sell paperback books for more than RM40 sometimes. Members got any discount ?
