In her seventies and confined to a wheelchair, Lenora was rendered mute by a series of strokes and can only communicate with Kit by tapping out sentences on an old typewriter. One night, Lenora uses it to make a tantalizing offer—I want to tell you everything.

As Kit helps Lenora write about the events leading to the Hope family massacre, it becomes clear there’s more to the tale than people know. But when new details about her predecessor’s departure come to light, Kit starts to suspect Lenora might not be telling the complete truth—and that the seemingly harmless woman in her care could be far more dangerous than she first thought.

ch 23 (view spoiler)[what a tangled web we weave. I knew that Mary was going to turn up dead. Looks like she was escaping with all the family secrets. I don't know who to trust. I think Jessie killed Mary and that she's the one creaking around the house. Unless this book has paranormal stuff in it? Not sure what Jessie's connection is to the family for the motive.

I'm also not sure about who was the actual killer was. I think it was the sister and maybe Lenora killed the sister. I don't think it was one person who killed everyone. I think the sister or the painter killed the parents and then the sister found out about Ricky so Lenora killed the sister to protect her secret.

Crazy about the groundskeeper being Lenoras grandson!! This is quite the page turner (hide spoiler)]

I loved the twist at the end with Virginia's letter. And how she confirmed Kits suspicions that she was faking it. And jessie was a good guy and in on it! Loved this page turner (hide spoiler)]
