These books are pretty thematic at their core and Collins deserves mad credit. My choice is Snow, I find him so interesting now that we know more about him - he was orphaned young and witnessed/survived a brutal war. What does that do to a child? By no means am I defending him or any of his actions, but he’s a great foil to Katniss. When everything was taken away from him and his family, in the most brutal way, all he yearned for was power (but we still see him having emotion and empathy in the prequel). This brings human nature into question - he spends time having to defend himself in the arena. Why didn’t his cousin Tigris turn out like him? Katniss? And is man (or woman) inherently good or evil?
i thought this was for the hunger games…? anyways, my favorite characters from the hunger games are cinna, haymitch, peeta, katniss, and boggs (he was only there for part of mockingjay but still).
It changes with my mood, but I think President Snow may be my favorite character. I love a good villain in fiction, and Snow is a great one. He has complex motivations, and I always got the feeling there was far more to him than a homicidal leader. However, Collins kept his backstory secret until Songbirds and Snakes.
Haymitch and Cinna. Haymitch is great because he's been through everything that Katniss has, and he still goes as far as he can to protect her. I adore Cinna (RIP) because of his giant middle fingers to the Capital through Katniss's wardrobe.
Sorry, I got a little out of control…
