The Redgum River Retreat is a dual timeline historical fiction by Sandie Docker set in Tasmania in the 1940s and contemporary times. It deals with the wartime Snapshots from Home project, selective mutism and the healing power of music. Here is my review

My niece lives in Tasmania now, so your review caught my interest. I'm sorry you didn't connect with the characters.
I liked her previous book before this one much better!
