In this particular case, it looks like the name was approved this way. But there is no staff note on the combine page.
If the author successfully claimed the profile, then it must have been approved. I sent a question to support anyway. There's no indication in the manual if or when it's appropriate to bend the rule.

Staff will approve anything these days, I find.
FYI: Support went ahead and corrected the name on the profile.
What if anything should be done?
