What a coincidence! Things have been a little hectic for us over the summer, so the most recent discussion may not have gotten posted! I thought I added it but it looks like there may have been tech issues and it didn't save 🫠

Gayle Gordon (gaylesstuff) | 22 comments Well, that's OK. Things were too hectic for me to read the last book, but I'm halfway there for this one. I also invited some new people by sharing in a vegan Facebook group I'm in. Maybe some of them will be interested in getting a lively discussion goin

Gayle Gordon (gaylesstuff) | 22 comments Here is my Goodreads review- I love everything about this book. Everything you ever wanted to know about veganism is here. If you are a vegan and need the facts to counter arguments from carnists on why you are wrong and they are right, your ammunition is in this book. If you are a carnist, or vegan-curious, and you want to know what all this vegan stuff is about, this book is for you, too. Of course, I often feel that books about veganism are preaching to the choir and that the people who really need to read them won't. In this case, I really don't think it is preaching to the choir, because the author is just trying to give us all the facts. This way, vegans who read it are prepared for interactions with others who challenge us. The final chapter, "Talking About Veganism," goes into the best ways to make the arguments without antagonizing or alienating our interlocutors in the event we end up having THAT conversation. All vegans have to deal with it, whether or not you are "flaunting" your food choices. All you have to do is pass up on the main dish and go for the sides at a family reunion or work function and the unwanted questions start coming at you from others. That used to bug me. OK, it still does, but if you want to be ready for those conversations, read this book. Better yet, recommend it to your carnist friends and family and see if they are brave enough to read it.

Gayle Gordon (gaylesstuff) | 22 comments I have been reading others' reviews of the book on Goodreads and added my 2 cents in some comments, especially negative reviews. Couldn't help myself.
