For the mystery and crime part, I would recommend the AGGGTM trilogy (A Good Girl's Guide to Murder) or anything by Holly Jackson. I like Vincent Ralph as well (super short chapters). They All Fall Down by Roxanne St. Claire, House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig, and Verity (adult) by Colleen Hoover.

Please don't come after me for liking Verity. I enjoyed it and it was a good mystery.
